La Jolla Summerfest group ticket info (& list)

Yo Nutters:

Here's the lowdown on the group ticket scene for the La Jolla Music Festival.

I spoke to a lovely group ticket sales person who, "Looks forward to working with us." She doesn't know us....yet. :P

There are 2 discounts given for group tickets.
10% for 10-14 people ------> $60 tickets -----> $54
20% for 15 or more -------> $60 tickets -----> $48

(There are $40 tickets, too. People expressed interest in the $60)

So, we'd have to reserve at least 10 seats to get a group rate.
The sooner we reserve our seats the better our chances of getting our preferred location (s). Ticket sales open up to the public May 1 or 4, she didn't remember, at which point all heck could break loose.
She pointed out that since this particular show features 'a big name' (ya' don't say) she's not sure if ticket sales are going to be brisker than normal.

That said, I think the sooner we get our butts in gear the better. I know August is a long way down the pike, but let's start a list of people who definitely want to go the group route and see if we've got at least 10 folks interested. If so, we'll roll with it. We can always add more people to the group.

If we do end up going with group tickets, we'll need to put a 50% deposit on a credit card. I'm willing to do that. Because I just KNOW you're all good, decent Nutters and will pay me for your ticket.

If someone else would like to take the reins and do the ticket thing, lemme know. I just didn't want everyone to think someone was looking into this and find out no one was.

So, let's start a list with peeps definitely interested in group tickets.
Copy and add your name to the list.

Thanks for doing the research, Amy. We had a little mini-LA nutter meet up during my last night in Los Angeles yesteday and Omaha told me to pass on that he would definitely go in on the group ticket deal.

Also, empty and I were discussing since we've seen Everyone Stares so much that it might be time to give it the Rocky Horror Picture Show treatment at the La Jolla screening. The first thing I thought of was having everyone use one of those paper roll outs that you blow into at parties during the scene where Andy whips out his private parts while Stewart is filming him.

Conroy -- Holy crappity, that is a good idea. I'm going to have to give this some creative thought along with another home viewing for inspiration. My initial thought, is that anyone who actually has a vintage Police t-shirt should wear it!

Conroy, that just opens up a whole Pandora's box of fun possibilities! I think I may hear my kazoo rattling in the drawer to get out! We would, of course, act with total respect to The Man.

With all due respect myself, I'm not sure that would be possible.

I love the idea of a RHPS-type screening of the film. Somewhere, sometime. But it just makes me feel a little...off...about talking about something like that at a screening which seems more or less in Stewart's "honor" as a featured composer/musician of the festival.

Just my party-poopin' 2 cents, as someone who likely won't be there anyway, but still. Just thinking how Stewart & the nutters were talked about in the press after Savannah and this seems to me that it could look even worse.

Hey Sockii,

I'm bummed that you aren't going to be there -- we'll miss you.

I think you are probably right about the screening. I also think everyone here was just kidding around with the idea -- more of a fantasy than an actual action plan. (At least I was.) :mrgreen: Although, it seems California might be more receptive to some good-hearted goofiness than Savannahian (sp.) reporters have proven to be.

Separately, didn't I see in the earlier thread that NancyRose and Lynne were planning to attend?

Con and I were just talking- and sockii is right on about the screening- we'll need to check the vibe. If it's an honor, we will of course honor our Maestro. :)

well, in as dignified a manner as we can.

Now, La Jolla is a little wee ways away from LA. But LA can be easier to fly in and out of from far off places . *cough*

So, as said earlier, anyone wanting to caravan down is welcome. I'll search for the party bus :)

And whoever wants to stay the weekend?

Well, Conroy and I also decided we need to tent my whole backyard and have the KONVENTION that weekend. And THAT would be a great place for a RHPS style screening. With LEroy Coolbreezes and Tequila of course!

and maybe some special guests. Fallout anyone????

It should be noted, as some of you may have guessed, that alcohol may have played a factor in this conversation ;)

I'm in for any and all frivolity that occurs after about lunchtime on the 21st, because that's the earliest I can get to La Jolla. So if there's a weekend Krypton Konvention afoot, bring it on!

Yay!! We are up to 10 already.

Interestingly, over half of the list lives on the East Coast.

I'm a definite - and if being relatively close to the venue allows me to take on any specific duties, I will be glad to volunteer.
