STEWART COPELAND

Was listening to a track on Buckethead's album "Monsters and Robot's".
For those of you who haven't listened to any of his stuff you need to, really great, strange guy but brilliant musician.
Anyway, the second track "Stick Pit" is the tune in question and I swear it's Stewart . Can't find anything to confirm it and he's not listed as the drummer but I know Stew when I hear him. Also all the other tracks have different drum sound all together.

Interesting clues are that Les Claypool produced this album and plays bass on several track including this one.

Look it up on iTunes and tell me what you guys think, even the 30 second sample will give you enough to tell.

ETA: this really kicks ass! I'm liking it a lot. Off to find it on the website o' my independent retailer of choice...

Naaaaah... I don't think so. It's obviously someone attempting to serve up some Copeland but I don't think it's the man himself. The high-hat work doesn't sound quite right to me.

Also, if you watch this live clip on youtube this sounds like the drummer in the studio version and it's clearly not Stewart.

I'm with Stephen. The hats don't sound right, but the drive sounds spot on (studio link moreso than the live link) it even speeds up in spots. (Sorry, man. )

Perhaps this fellow is a SC fan too and has spent some time studying his licks. Either way, I'm digging the sound.

The live version definately not. It's the snare that's getting me, it's spot on plus the octoban rolls. I've been a fan since 1980 and if it's not him this guy should be famous.

He is famous. The drummer on that track is Bryan "Brain" Mantia of Primus. Stewart is a fan of Brain.

Of course, Stewart was the producer of one song on Anti-Pop, the last Primus album with Brain as the drummer.

Ahh, Buckethead. I was just going to suggest him in the Oysterhead thread this morning but thought him too familiar for Les.

Nice tune. Not Stewart IMO as well, but nice tune.
