New Police box set

Call it a 'new release' is very hard, but there is a lot of talk in Italy about the re-release of a series of titles under a new name (that's just marketing people...): EARBOOKS.
The Earbooks catalogue includes
MESSAGE IN THE BOX - 4 DISC SET + BOOK
As most of us know, this is exactly the same box set that was released by Universal years ago; this time (on EDEL RECORDS) what changes is simply the size of the packaging, as it's more of a book + 4 cd, that means the book got a bigger shape than the previous box set.
Of course it will be good to have a real book now, with bigger images (I haven't seen it yet), but do not expect something that was not included before.
Another good note is that being sold as a book (+ 4 cd) the VAT will le lower than a cd release (at least this is what happens in Italy where books got 4% VAT and CD got 20% VAT!!!).
If you haven't bought MESSAGE IN A BOX yet, now you have no excuses !
If you have it already...bring up you wallet, open it, pick up the money, gave them to your seller and bring another piece for your collection at home.
Italia date of release: November 13th, 2006.

Perhaps something new could be the inclusion of songs that didn't be edited in the previous box like:
"Don't Stand so close to me 86 Dance Mix version" and the "Strontium 90" tracks... some ideas for a newest 5 Box set
Great idea...really?

You don't need the knowledge of Giovanni or Dietmar to know that the box set's back cover claim of "everything The Police ever recorded" is false. Until the Spanish/Japanese versions of "De Do Do Do" make the cut, I'll save my money.

There are around 12 tracks (including remixes from Don't Stand 86) that are not included in Message In A Box.

Some missings on Message in a box:
1- De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da (Spanish Version): A-Side From the US and some european (Holland, Portugal) 7" singles with special PS. Also, A-Side or B-Side of Argentinan, Mexican, Peruvian, Ecuadorian 7" singles and colombian 12" single.
2 - De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da Da (Japanese Version): B-Side From the US and some European (Holland, Portugal) 7" singles with special PS. A-Side of the japanese 7" single with special PS. Free bonus japanese CD single with "THE VERY BEST OF STING & THE POLICE".
3 - Every Breath You Take (Backing Track)
4 - Roxanne (Backing Track)
A-Side and B-Side of the japanese 7" single with special PS.
5 - Truth Hits Everybody (Remix): Free 7" single (B-Side: Man in a suitcase - live) with EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE 7" in a gatefold double pack PS.
6 - De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da '86: From "EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE - THE CLASSICS" DTS version.
7 - Don't Stand So Close To Me '86 (Original or Dance Mix): from 7", 12" singles and LP compilations. The german edition (and the new UK edition ?) contains the dance mix version instead of the original version.
8 - Message In A Bottle (New Classic Rock Mix): From "EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE - THE CLASSICS".
9 - Can't Stand Losing You (Live Version): From "21 Years Of Alternative Radio I" compilation on Strange Fruit. Live at Polytechnics, Hatfield, UK, february 21, 1979. BBC broadcast.
10 - Wrapped Around Your Finger (Live Version): 2nd track of the A-Side of the 12" US Promo of WATP.
11 - Don't Stand So Close To Me '86 (Live): 7" and 12" singles.
Maybe more edit, remixes or live versions...

I can understand how some of the later remixes would be missing if they were released after the box set. I just remember that surge of disappointment when I finally got my hands on the box set and scanned for the Spanish/Japanese "De Do Do DO" until I convinced myself it wasn't there.
Also, how could there be a live version of "Don't Stand So CLose to Me '86" if their last performances were at Sting and Trudie's wedding and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony?

It was of course:
11 - Don't Stand So Close To Me (Live): The B-Side of Don't Stand So Close To Me '86.
Sorry for the mistake.

With the "Ghost in the Machine" sessions available online, it makes me wonder what else is really out there. Andy's comments that rarities will be released in 2007 is somewhat encouraging.
