What is Police in the East anyway? I confess that I've never seen it and have barely heard of it.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

basically it's the first half of "Around The World"
but it was already broadcast in late 1980 in the UK
the good thing about it is that it's a little bit different to the cut from "Around The World" - i.e. some other songs

I'll give you a copy when I'm the States and you can distribute it further to those in need.

the quality is quite good, but there's a large timecode at the bottom of the picture

"now become.." suggests to me that were discussions about it (young craig betts was involved to some extent, wasn't he?).
do we assume that there were discussions about it but that they didn't turn out favourably?
do you know more, D?

the usual answer of "gordo didn't want it to happen" seems a little tired now, or is it still the case?

A number of people here have it, though I am not one of them. I always thought it was from a Canadian broadcast.

I remember watching PITE on the BBC, who I believed produced the broadcast material.

One of the prominent DJ's at the time Annie Nightingale, followed the band on their Eastern leg with a camera crew.

You made a documentary film about The Police while they were on a world tour; do you have a favorite memory from that tour?

Annie Nightingale: Police tour? Yes that was amazing. best moment was climbing up a mountain, trailing after the long-limbed Stewart Copeland, in India, near Poona, and listening at night, to the sound of that fabulous sub continent wafting up through the dark from a village below.

Count me in the 'not one of them' group as well.

I've seen it listed on some collector's pages, but it tends to be one they won't part with unless something of 'equal rarity' is traded.
