I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday and being with those that will be with us in spirit (especially "Leroy Coolbreeze").

To coin a phrase from Stewart...sorry for the "radio silence" on my end...

It's been a long winter to say the least. Surgeries, flu, colds--just plain ick! However I wanted to let all of you know the latest on my melanoma situation. My recent appointment with a specialist went very well and he is of the opinion I need no further treatment at this time for this new melanoma. The second surgery was sufficient. Hooray!!! He said there are no guarantees it wouldn't come back or spread, but it has a very slim chance of doing so. So for now, I only have a nice 4-1/2 inch scar on my back to show for it (some have said it looks like I had my kidney removed-my brother nearly passed out when he saw it-wimp  ). Thanks for all the friendship, love, prayers, support, etc. from all of you during this time. It was tough this time around and I pray this is the last time I have to deal with it. All I can say is EARLY DETECTION is key. So please check your skin monthly.

And finally, a special thanks to Amy for all her wonderful work to organization the event, to Skip & others for helping with the shirt design and anyone else I've missed who has lended a hand--spreading the word, bumping the thread, donating, walking, etc., etc. I'm really touched by it all.

Nutters are the best. I love you guys! :D

xo Laurie

As I told Laurie privately, YAY! I am so relieved.

Unfortunately, I couldn't arrange to be there this weekend. I'm in the middle of being on standby for jury duty and couldn't get it together to figure out if I should come down Friday night or Saturday or what. Plus some pesky work stuff had me distracted. I'm noticing that the weather forecast looks good for Sunday and I will be thinking of you and wishing I was there!

Laurie,

I am so thrilled to hear about your great news.

Espeically today. I learned today of the death from cancer of a former co-wrker. Not someone I was close with but very sad.

I also learned of the death at age 41 of a friend of a friend whose wife is 7 or so months pregnant. I think I only met the friend of a friend once, but the whole things is so sad.

So this is a great day for good news. It is actually always a great day for such good news but a better day for me than other days.
