on the second last page down in the left corner is a bit blurred
"They'd never heard of that other guy and, remember, that was 10, 15, 20 years ago' kind of a distant, memory. I've even forgotten who that drummer guy was."

Something that gave me shivers: Stewart is another who quotes the "aural repository" theory. All the musicians I love and respect most, starting with my father, have expressed this concept that music is already there in this mysterious aural repository and it just passes through you, and it seems to come from somewhere else, you are just an instrument to express something that was already there.
It's like possession. Then, as it has come, it leaves you.
I experienced it with writing. The Muse stroke, then went away forever.
This is what makes me utterly and completely interested in the creative process: it's a supernatural state.

You know, lately I had occasion to send a scan of a drawing I did twenty years ago to an old friend of mine. Said friend, tho an awesome human, is not a creative type and kept expressing this wonderment at the sketch...
best I can tell him is sort of the same thing. You just sit down, and it sorta comes.
(Here's the drawing. I gotta admit, it *is* a pretty good likeness.)
But writing prose, man, I spend a lot of time walking around the room with a furrowed brow trying to construct a sentence that gives you the information but doesn't take you off on a tangent.
Oh ghod, welcome to my daily hell, sweetheart.
Great article.
Thank you, Jan!
