March Madness / Music Madness

Postby plutonic on 24 Mar 2009 22:42

For those of you into the roundball this time of year, I present this little bracket from the Raleigh News and Observer, pitting various bands from different eras against each other.

Post 1980 Rock was one of the "Leagues" and The Police were only a 13 seed!!! ::) WTF? The Talking Heads were even a 10 Seed. Impossible!

So, the Police would be the musical equivalent to Cleveland State or Akron?

Does that translate to 'Ipswich' or 'Sunderland' in english sports parlance?

One of the Phillly radio stations ran a similar bracket.

The Police (11) against Van Halen (6) VH won that first round but got beat in the second by AC/DC.
A mind full of useless information.

Hendrix was an 9th seed in the pre-80 rock bracket for the Raleigh paper and an 11 seed in the Philly radio bracket? Crazy.

That bracket was insane. Jimi would've dunked all over Freddie Mercury.

Who makes crazier fashion choices--Posh or Joaquin Phoenix? That is priceless. (For those unfamiliar with the site, they report on celebrities and their bad fashion choices, sometimes giving praise for good efforts, and they do a version of March madness with brackets and voting.)
