I guess Stewart can play but I recall him saying in an interview that wrote Daniel Hope's violin part on another instrument. A mandolin perhaps? I don't recall.

Yep, that free weekly Savannah newspaper had the interview with Stewart that mentioned wrote the violin parts on the mandolin.

Weeelll, my dad has been writing strings arrangements for over 35 years, but this does not mean that he can play the violin or the cello...
Plus I'd be extremely wary of touching a violin after having played with Daniel Hope :wink:
