Krypton Store needs a new shirt

Postby GinaSuperCat on 28 Mar 2007 23:14

Ya CustomInk is a fun site, I already made a GinaSuperCat shirt a while back and designed one for my gaming char. (Everquest player since 2000) so it's fun to just make something silly for yerself <giggle>...If you haven't guessed, I make up silly stuff all the time <grin>

If you just make one for yourself and don't sell for profit or distribution there's really not much worry there...and there's a lot of internet custom t-shirt places like that where you don't have to order in bulk...once you order for resale then it's different territory...

Thanks, GSC. I wasn't sure if you had to set something up or if you could just upload some art, pay some $, and say Give me my damn t-shirt.

If the latter is the case, then disregard my earlier post, Copelanders. I've been up for 36 hours, so I might be kinda stupid.

I didn't think there would be a problem if we just had some tee's printed up just for personal use. So, of course, we wouldn't do any logos or anything and I guess anyone could do whatever they wanted. But I thought it might be fun to have the same shirt (s)/hoodies. Does that sound too dorky? And then we'd know if we ran into any other SC.net Copelandites. I'd definitely wear mine to the show.
Ok, so how 'bout a tee and a hoodie. What pics/images? Should we do a poll?
*"Stewart Copeland"
* a Rhythmatist image (giraffe race??)
* our man in the (in)famous green shorts
* SC blazing away
Help me....anyone? Anyone?

Just to clarify for those who haven't seen the movie, there are definitely more than two shots to the lion sequence. But all the others only show either Stewart blazing or lions encroaching, never together.

I've praised the idea behind the sequence many times. I've never seen or heard anything like it before or since. I'd love to hear new revelations about how they approached it in the form of a blog, but would *really* love to see it re-imagined onscreen. Even a nice wide shot where you couldn't necessarily make out Stewart's face but still gave some dimension to the threat he faced would be better than what we got. My guess is there's a camera operator actually inside the cage. That's something they probably would have had to avoid showing in the movie proper, but seems like it could fly in Stewart's proposed remake.

God! I can see it now, half doc, half performance. It could be just ridiculously awesome. Show some of the setup that brought the pride out of hiding. Supposedly there were slabs of meat hanging inside the cage, IIRC. A few shots of the crew making themselves scarce all superimposed with Stewart's narration. And then I'll bet that performance could be seriously lengthened, which would be great since the tune that accompanies it is *not* on the album, which is another situation i would love to see rectified. When the music's over, don't turn out the light, but show us just *how* they made those lions vamoose and got Stew out of the cage! But i digress...

I'm pretty sure no reputable online place is going to take cash to put a copyrighted image onto a t-shirt for anybody. The best way to do it above board en masse is to use a photo somebody here has taken and whose use they can authorize. Even then, the subject himself would have a say in it. However, if plans were made right here in front of him, he could have 'em nixed at any time.

Otherwise, the best way to go about it is to each just do your own thing....

Thanks, all. Like I said, Me Yesterday = Kinda Stupid.

I like your list, Samburu -- only thing I'd add would be the Stewart Copeland Kicks Ass option. But if people are doing their own thing anyway, I say design what you and then post a link here like Gina and Dive did. I just wasn't sure how organized we are/aren't trying to be.

Sounds like leaning toward disorganized might be the best option so that we don't conflict with SC's official stuff, particularly since a) SC has the right to maintain his "brand" and b) "have the same shirt(s)/hoodies" is kinda what the Krypton Store is about.

Chris, the more you describe that movie, the more I dislike the director. If you don't have hours of coverage of both SC and the lions in the same frame, then there's no point. Just hire a stunt guy and a good editor. But if you're putting your star, wild animals, and raw meat together in one place under the hot sun, then For Copeland's Sake film it! *cough*JP=hack*cough*

I really might make an "All Your Base are Belong to Stewart Copeland" one. Might have to sweet-talk Sockii into sending me a higher-res version of that...

(hey! it could have her website URL on it too...)

I know what you're all saying. I guess it was kind of stupid. :(
One thing's for sure. Stewart Copeland will always be cooler than me.
Hey, that might look good on a shirt !
Wouldn't want Stew or Gio getting pissed at anyone.

I'll post something if I come up with a shirt.

Not in the least, Samburu. No worries. The Krypton Store needs more stuff!

(Gio! We're dying to spend our hard-earned bucks to advertise for The Man! We need more options! And btw, you're awesome and we love you and thank you for all of your hard work.)

I had a similar thought this morning, but I haven't quite perfected it. Was looking at a pic of SC on drums at the Whiskey, grey hair flying, and something came to mind like

"Stewart Copeland is old enough to be your dad, and he still kicks your ass!"

Thanks DM. I'm not backing away from the "Krypton stores needs more stuff" view. GIO- MARK THE BLACK TEE'S 10% OFF OR DO A TWO FER. And thanks for all your hard work and you're awesome!

I like this idea of the pic at the Whiskey. Yeah, he's 54 and he still kicks ass! (Although, kicking my 82 year old father's ass is not a challenge).
Are there any clear pics of him there?

What was that old 7-Up jingle from the 70s?

"Always had it...

Always will."

;)

(It's so funny that Stewart keeps trying to convince us he's just this suburban dad. I mean, on some level I'm sure that's true [and I'm sure he loves his family to pieces]. But on a whole 'nother level, there's just this...talent. What can we say. Maybe he ought to put his kids on here to find out what all the cool people are saying about their old dad. ;))

or even an I <3 SC done in the style of the old NYC campaign...but living here in South Carolina it's meaning could be rather ambiguous...until it's worn in the context of a Police show 8)

I believe he probably IS the suburban, take-the-girls-to-soccer-practice kind of dad. But, this totally frenzied reaction to the tour may have been a bit of a surprise. It kind of takes him out of the "It's your turn to bring the water and granola bars, Mr. Copeland," league.
Wait until the shows start. They'll probably be like, "OMG, Dad rocks! Everybody thinks our dad is cool!" WE DO! WE REALLY DO!

I have no screencapping capabilities, so I've just been trolling other people's hard work, but I have yet to find a shot that's big enough with good enough resolution. Doesn't have to be the Whiskey specifically. I would just love something of Grey Stewart drumming fiercely. Young Stewart is beautiful, of course, but Grey Stewart deserves some love.

As dads go, yeah, depends on your age, of course. But I figure it'd be a good kick at the young whippersnappers out there.
It kind of takes him out of the "It's your turn to bring the water and granola bars, Mr. Copeland," league.!
What a great visual. (Although for some reason Weeds is flashing thru my brain now.)

This must be really quite weird for SC's girls considering just how young they are. Even though they've lived through Gizmo (and maybe Oysterhead? maybe?), this must be really difficult for them to wrap their heads around. I'm way older than they are, and *I* would have a heap of trouble handling it if my father suddenly became an international sensation, blazed a trail across the sky, and then blew the world wide open.

********

Young Stewart was quite the hottie (ssssssssizzzzzle)
However, I must say the "Mature" Stewart is tres appealing too :) Not that I'm one of those superficial kind of women. He packs the old
one-two punch. He's good lookin' and he's an AMAZINGLY TALENTED MUSICIAN!

I think his girls are in the 11-15 range. Yeah, that would kind of freak me out, too. Hopefully they'll have some fun this summer visiting him on the road.

We've gone off track. This is a swag thread.

We're not off-track, SS -- we're brainstorming! In that spirit, I nominate two more t-shirt quotes:

"It's your turn to bring the water and granola bars, Mr. Copeland."
(cuz I think that's hilarious)

and one made specifically for SC's three girls (Think he'll kill me?):
"MY DAD KICKS ASS!"
or
"MY DAD KICKS YOUR ASS!"

Are they? For some reason I had the 7-11 age range in my head.
