It'll be a good read, I promise. This thread is like a reunion in itself!

Did someone say Reunion? What?! (lovely to see you all)

In a half-hearted and probably futile attempt to drag this back on topic...Giovanni, didn't a very wise man once say "If anyone has any questions, ask Dietmar"? You asked, he answered :)

It's stewart and gio's lounge. make the dancehall or disco room or whatever.
I wonder if anyone will show up.....

this is all so classic fan board territorialism. does no one else see that?

apparently us newbies serve an important role in giving some people a target to laud their partonizing

Yes, i've read it all.

[delurking]

Hi! It warms my heart to hear Flag jokes again. Damn, I've missed it, and you people. Damn!

The Lynne Cocktail Response to Gio is a jigger of Schmaffy's, a liberal dash of Dive's, the juice of empty's, poured over Craig's, shaken with Sockii's, served straight up, no chaser.

The turn that the conversations here have taken rankles me strongly, for all of the reasons they stated. The thing that rankles me the most (other than when it verges into threats and shockingly inappropriate comments) is that it shows how little the perpetrators know, or care, about how to be part of a community. Being part of a community doesn't mean conforming to a narrowly prescribed set of topics, behavior, etc., but it does mean being sensitive to how to talk about topics you want to discuss in a way that will attract others to talk with you. Otherwise, you're just talking at people, and that's not conversation among a community of people with a set of shared interests. Especially when some of those times that you're talking at people, you're either threatening them or engaging in ad hominem comments, neither of which is conducive to exchange.

I hope that Gio's proactive and inclusive (thank you for soliciting input!) actions will make resilient a community that means a great, great, great deal to me, and to whom I am enthusiastic to welcome newcomers. But one of the reasons that this community means such a great deal to me is that I have almost uniformly met people (either virtually or in meatspace) who have judgment, wit, and respect for themselves and others. If this community deteriorates in such a way that it deters people with those traits, we will all be worse off.

Ok my friends...I've read enough...

Well, you made my game...it was very very easy...I wanted to see if in a thread like that, a fight would surface...and it happened...that's exactly what I expected. It was plain to see that I made it because of all the troubles happened here lately.
Now, let's go clean with it: troubles arrived when Jemma arrived. Ok? Don't tell me it's not like that because IT IS.
I AM NOT the person who likes to 'circle around' a problem, when a problem exists, and this thread is the definitive confirmation.
Jemma, instead of talking to you privately, as we already did via mail and facebook, as I have done with too many others lately who complained a lot about what is happening here, I guess it's better that we talk 'in public', so that we stop this mess and we can all have a pretty normal communication on this forum again.
Here we have people of all ages, all carachters and different ways and reason who brought them here to read about Stewart Copeland news. Your way of dealing with a community like that is full of energy, and many people like it, but you can't consider every critic an attack, got it? I'm sure that if you deal with it with a little less 'persecution', maybe everything do not fall apart like it happened in this thread once again. It's NOT only your fault,

This message is NOT only for Jemma, can you get it everybody?

It was going pretty well (2 pageS out of 8), until the message from Craig, who made a reference to some threads using the word 'porn'; to me, it was just his opinion on what some thread were about, with a little sense of humour; OF COURSE those thread were not to be considered Porn threads, otherwise I would have been forced to erase them (by the way, I can suggest some very interesting porn websites if you need them...eheheh); in this case it was Therese feedback who turned the flame up...sorry Therese but maybe using all those '???' and '!!!' made your feedback not very close to what 'netiquette' means (hey, sounds french, uh?). You can absolutely respond to what Craig said, and if you feel like 'disturbed' by what he wrote, I'm sure there could be a different way to deal with it.
Most of your posting are definitely cool, and people do appreciate them; people is having fun reading about your 'crazyness', the pics you post, and that's cool...but sometimes it just goes out of hands and lately a word was simply too much.
Again to everybody; don't keep it too serious when there is some criticism; Jemma and Therese are great fans of Stewart and they like to show it their way; as you can read, they have been both criticised by me right now in this post, and I am sure they are enough clever to understand my point of view.
There is NO NEED at all to light up a flame just for a word or two coming out of their enthusiasm, and at the same I hope they won't give another reason to burn everything like it happened in this thread.

Of course, I can be criticised as well.

Now...do you want to know about those porn website .... ok ok...privately!

One last thing: do not use my gio @ stewartcopeland.net e-mail address for some days as I'm having troubles again, but it will be fixed again in a few days, I will send you a note about it.
