>Question for all: Could Stewart have been the real sweet dork he depicts in his lyrics as a young man? I see him so self-assured, beautiful, smart as a whip, coming from an upper class family...Miles and Ian looked like they were very sure of themselves/leader personalities.<

I don't know. That dorkiness certainly does come across in a lot of his songs. I find it hard to believe it's autobiographical. But, what did he say he was? A 'population statistic' ?

But, then again, people rarely see themselves in the same light that others do.

Yes, until he saw Jimi Hendrix and dropped acid, but that was when he was 15! Could he have written a series of songs about when he was..12?

Thinking of it, he was a precocious...talent.

I TOTALLY believe that Stewart may believe that, at heart, he is really just a dork that lucked out. I think you'd be surprised what even the most successful and dashing and talented people think of themself. They're just people with their own neuroses. Like us on this forum.

Waaait a minute. Didn't he see Hendrix with Ian? Ian stood idly by while his little brother dropped acid?? I don't know about the dorky shyness around girls either. By various accounts Stewart lost his virginity at either 12 or 14.

Oh, um, song.....

This is part of what draws me to him: the fact that, despite all that he is, and that I bet he knows he is and has achieved, he might be fundamentally insecure. If this were true, he would be The Cancerian (I do not believe in common astrology, in the sense of horoscopes, but had my chart made "scientifically" by a very good friend and freaked out that he could discover certain things about me)...

Now, can you imagine Sting being insecure in private? No, seriously? He looks like The Libra: handsome, egotistical, diplomatic, with a cruel streak.

DREAMS???

I'm sure Ian would not have had any qualms in sharing acid with his 15 year old brother...It was all about the Experience at the time, and, yes, if he could screw girls at 12 (according to Ian) he could have dropped acid at 15. Rock and roll was the next logical step!

I often wondered about "You must have a very high opinion of yourself to work with Sting. He eats people". That sounds like a statement of an insecure person who tried hard.

They are real humans being. Not typical rock gods.

I know. It was the times. Well, you know when the father is off plotting coups and assassinations and mom's off in the desert with her antiquities, the kids have got to entertain themselves somehow.

Only the young'uns, samburu..."Hitlennie" and Miles were doing their "smart superior siblings" thing and making sure the other two were kept in line..... :x
Joking of course. I am an older, responsible sibling who did well in school and my brother was the rebel. So I know about tormenting the rebels.
