Planning on Bonnaroo? Post Here!

Postby jedsoon on 24 Feb 2007 00:36

One of my friends secured our tix, but according to them the cheapest ones were already gone by 12:30 and we had to cough up the extra ten bucks. Too bad he waited 'til noon to even set up an account. :? But we're going!

Hey Dive and fellow 'Roo-goers...

I am anxiously awaiting to hear if I have been selected as a Roo volunteer. I sent them an email to check up on this. It would be a bit of a pain to buy a ticket then be told I am accepted, decide to work the festival (to have access to showers, etc) then have to sell my ticket, AND fork over the $250 deposit to volunteer.

I will update you guys when I know for sure what I am doing.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you!

Dive, your heart must have fluttered when reading that Stew comment about the Whisky! That was beautiful!

Hey CP, just found a thread on Inforoo that might interest you...about various volunteer gigs. Turns out some of them might be before or after the festival, and still include free tix.

Cheers all, just found a contest from inforoo boards about winning VIP passes to Roo this year...it involves registering for MusicToday.com and clicking on the link for the Star Hill Brewery contest...I didn't even realize I already had an account (I enter a ton of sweepstakes/contests heh--won an ipaq that way)...

http://www.musictoday.com/interact/cont ... oice=rules

Just thought I'd post this for the slight chance that anyone here wanting to go but not being able to buy tix could at least have a shot!

Edit: Second contest located from JamBase (not sure if I mentioned this before?), requiring free registration with their site...contest link just in case:

I have been cleared as a volunteer. Now I just have to fork over $250 smackers as a deposit. I love the idea of helping out for a mere 6 hours each day to see the police for free!!(minus money spent on food and beer of course). Of course, if I am completely exhausted after The Police and want to go home Sunday morning, I have the option of letting them keep the $250 deposit and not work any longer. Otherwise I get it all back if I work thru Sunday. I wonder if I do overtime on Thurs and Fri if that will count towards my total 24 hour shift.

Dive and other Roo-sters, shall we construct our own Stew forum shirts and put our user name on the back for ID'ing purposes? That would be nerdy but fun! We could just all order the official polo logo shirt and put our user name on the back. Just an idea really.. Even though I will be helping as a vol, come Saturday pre-Police show time I will be seeking you all out!

Hey, gratz on the acceptance! I'm in for whatever. But realize you will be smothering hot and filthy most of the day Saturday...just comes with the territory (they do have a gigantic water fountain kind of like you see at kids' water parks, so you can cool off.) But don't plan on wearing anything you want to keep in pristine condition, or even that you can't take off.

Honestly, I usually wear a tank top and a lot of sunscreen. Even a tshirt has been too hot, some years.

Come to think of it, maybe that's why people love Bonnaroo so much...where else can you play in the mud and a giant water fountain without people thinking you were certifiable? :)

Heh no one can think of anything too dorky for me /giggle--my evidence? I already have a GinaSuperCat t shirt since it's a long-standing moniker/handle...I like making my own shirts, haha :)

Cheers for getting the volunteer gig!

I've seen the Biscuit Burners and Rocco DeLuca (he played at the 9:30 club earlier this week and I even got to chat with him a few minutes after the show, definitely a great guy) and if those are any indication of the remaining acts, they will be high quality talent.
