Any update on the "Police Around the World" DVD?

Postby Kalypso on 22 Aug 2007 18:19

I skip the ad, download the tracks, the site tells me they are downloaded, I check my 'puter upside down and there is nothing there.

Yep Yep, if one kind soul can do it Equa, that is you. My miserable iPod Shuffle is SCREAMING for them...(hopefully I can convert the files to AAC with a little help from my friends)

When you download them, do you have a download manager box that pops up? If so, just make sure that it is set so it does not close automatically after the the download is complete. Then if you click on the derangements folder in the download manager, it should open and I think unzip the file wherever the file is.

Assuming you are using a Mac, I think the downloads default to the Documents folder. I'm sure you tried command+ f then typing in "Derangements", right? Try doing a "find" search for "Can't Stand Losing You", which is the first derangement. I'm sure you'll have multiple copies of this on your computer, but one of them may be the Derangement, which will lead you to the other tracks.

Don't mean to state the obvious, but sometimes I will forget to do the most things.

I work on BOTH a Mac and a PC. Would you advise to download it on the Mac?

I downloaded from EQ's links to a Mac with no problem:

1. Type in the Gigasize code, wait, skip ad, hit download
2. Box comes up asking if I want to open or save to disk. I save to disk, and my default location is Desktop
3. After all downloads are complete and I see the filename.mp3 files, I create a folder called Derangements, move them to that folder, then move that to my Music folder in my Home directory.
4. I open iTunes and choose Import, which opens a file directory. I go to Music/Derangements and import each file individually.

Done!

Thanks, Ms. L. 8)
...some of the other tracks on "Around..." also have some interesting vocal fullness/musical embellishments that just don't occur on any other recordings from this tour that I've heard. If you have "Around the World", watch it again and see if you agree.

So is this true? Is it common knowledge that was just not aware of?
It's true...
So then, this brings the question/speculation about IF they decide to release the Frejus show (has this been set as audio or DVD?), will it be the original audio (with minor EQ mixing)? Or will they attempt again to 'sweeten' the sound via overdubs (as Genesis did for their boxset a few years ago), either vocal or otherwise?

Again, as I've said before, us fellow Police freaks who have listened to multiple Police live shows know that even during their BEST shows, not everything went as perfectly as they would have liked: Andy would sometimes flub a guitar part, or couldn't switch an effect as fast he wanted, Sting's key/foot board might hold a note much longer than it was supposed to, or the wrong note altogether. The usual band-on-tour stuff that happens.

I'm just hoping that they don't do too much mucking about with the Frejus show, if indeed it gets released.

You know, I am so sentimental... I would love Hatfield Polytechnic on DVD. I know there are vids on YouTube. That concert has huge sentimental value for me, flaws and all, the energy could make you jump off your chair...
Of all the concerts I have Nothing Compares to It.
