All right folks. I live in another state so I can't walk, but I *can* harangue everyone I know to give money. We're only $800 from the team fundraising goal.

Come on, let's shuffle under the couch cushions and put the team over the top!! I'm emailing out the URL to various people and posting it all over my social-networking sites...ginned up a TinyURL for the MIF NFL homepage to make it easier to spam people with...

Argh, well this is crap, I've attempted (twice) to make a donation and it rejects my credit card as "address not matching". Which is rubbish. But now I'm afraid to go to PayPal instead, because it's showing two declined, but pending, donations on my account! This was SO much easier last year. :(

PS AND NOW I'm showing up as a contributor on the scrolling list thingy! Grr, argh. :x Oh well, I've either given nothing or double what I meant to. It'll be a funky surprise when I get my next cc bill.

I have had no less than 10 people call and/or email me to complain that they are unable to make a contribution designated to our team! The page instructs them to register a user name (annoying in and of itself), but once they do that and log in, they are taken away from the page with team names and given only an option for donating "in memory/in honor" of someone.

I KNOW there is a way to do this, but I now need to follow up with about 10 friends and explain it to them in the easiest way possible. Does anyone know exactly how to do this...or has it just been trial and error for all of us? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm disturbed to even think of how many others didn't bother to keep at it, and just decided not to contribute because of the hassle. Grrrrr.

I think we really need to make a point to contact MIF/Safe from the Sun after the walk to voice the problems we've all been having with the website this year.

It's something that's costing THEM money, and turning away potential donators. The system they used previously (I believe by Kintera) worked excellently and is used by a number of other charity groups I regularly support. I believe MIF used it last year, and I can't understand why they switched to this new system.

I don't even see a link/easy way to tabulate/list off-line donations as there was before, which could be a way to get donations from folks being frustrated by the system.

[ETA: I'm cranky enough this morning that I just did go and send feedback through the website regarding this matter.]

Making a Nutters donation

Postby DirtyMartini on 03 Apr 2009 13:28

I managed to make it work by not logging in.

Go to the page with the pulldown that has Nutters For Life on it:

https://www.z2systems.com/np/clients/mi ... &test=true

But for user name and password, I made up new ones as if creating a new account. You don't ever have to use it if you don't want, but it's the only way that I found to stay on the right screen. Alternatively, if you have a user name and password already, you should (should) be able to put it in the appropriate fields and still make this work -- I just didn't test it, so it's still a theory.) But whatever you do, DO NOT log in first. Ignore that stupid "If you have an account with us, please login here to donate" instruction cuz that's when the pulldown option for the teams disappears.

Fill in that page above (name, username, password, address, donation amount, etc., including the correct Nutters For Life pulldown option), and hit Submit (which should really say Next, but anyway). On the next screen, you will then add your credit card info, and the money gets credited correctly.

The key: DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT LOG IN.

De nada.

I hate to start another thread, but I think I might just to put the info up top in case anyone needs it.

ETA: In case anyone needs more verbose but possibly clearer instructions on making a donation that gets credited correctly to the team:

Hey there... the walk was very good! We had beautiful weather and the campus and Villanova was nice to look at while we walked.

We didn't win the t-shirt contest, but Laurie got a courage award, which she more than deserves!
