Has anyone heard " The Stewart Copeland Anthology Yet&q

Postby Divemistress of the Dark on 16 Aug 2007 02:40

Was doing some listening to the KK record today and was struck by how sophisticated all the instrumentation is...seriously. It's just phenomenal. And he wonders how come we all keep bringing up that album.

I just wish to hell he'd get over this complex he's got about his voice, already. Sure, he doesn't have a five-octave range, but who the hell cares?

And he made KK when he was all of 26 years old...

Son and I snagged it today. The BB we were at had about 4 copies.

We danced to "Too Kool." Brilliant!!! I love the klunky cowbell in the background.

I LOVE "Slither!" I've always liked "Stalin's Sultry Serenade" from Orchestralli, but this version is way better IMHO. Those strings are something right out of a Fred Astaire movie. Beautiful! I'll bet those movie folks who passed on it are kicking themselves now.

The "Tarantella" track is irresistable. I've loved "Regret" since I first heard it in the Copeland Vault. The Gizmo tune is great as well. Too bad nothing ever happened with Jeff Beck.

Interesting to read that the master for "Equalizer" is MIA. You can still find "The Equalizer Busy Equalizing" on that "TV Themes of the 80's" disc, although I would kill for the version that was actually played during the credits, though.

'Tis truly a great time to be a Copeland (Stewart, that is) fan.

I agree. I really love this track. It has on old school feel in a post modern way. This period of Stewart's film scoring career (early to mid 90's) is my favorite, especially Fresh, Rapa Nui, Silent Fall, Wide Sargasso Sea, etc, that had some great strings. I hope Stewart in the future is able to release the other stuff he did with the Seattle Symphony like Solcheeka, which is basically a "deranagement" of about a third of the Wide Sargasso Sea score. Lynn posted a link to a great WNYC show in which you can hear his demo of this brilliant piece.

Thanks for the Anthology report, zilboy.

Tis true. Some really interesting work on KK, plus there's the whole one-man-band aspect of it.

KK really needs a re-release. How else can he become a massive cult favorite/movement if no one can get their hands on him?!?
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

I heard a rumor from a reliable source according to which KK will be at the signing in LA tonight...

He's gonna crack out the tube socks one of these days. I just know it.

Bah!! Got an email from Amazon telling me they'd mailed my disc, but still no love...Sigh...

Oh well. It'll just sound that much better, now that I've had to wait a while for it.
Yes, me too, but I posed the question not clearly. My Bad.
I meant is the rest of the Spyro tracks available only on the videogames?
I actually paid for them from a lowly-type who was selling them without clearance to do so. At the time i thought it might be the surest way to obtain all of them. And wouldn't ya know, it's still the only source i've seen for game 4!

Hmmm...I checked with my bro and he told me that they wished that Stew could have worked on other versions of the VG, but it did not happen.
Most players think his music is Da Best, of course!

Inomniac Games produced the first three and apparently the series went downhill after that. The score for the third one, Year of the Dragon is my favorite, though I also love Enter the Dragonfly (the fourth and last scored by Stew) because it is kind of ambient/techno-ish. I really think Stew ought to explore more of this genre in the future and even consider writing a symphonic piece based on the music from this game series as kind of a sequel to Orchestralli. And I could see Ensemble Bash doing some of the percussion.

I still can't find it anywhere around here. I thought I could just pick it up at Best Buy (or another) then I wouldn't have to pay for shipping... but no one carries it. Bleh now I still have to wait for it to get here.

You can get it on deepdiscount.com for $13.79 with free shipping. Though, I ordered it on Tuesday and still haven't gotten a shipping confirmation yet.
