haha Conroy, I already told you that you have to name of a rock star <grin> so as your attorney I advise you to get cracking on the weekends!! My imaginary all-girl 3pc garage-punk band will be named Gina and the Super Cats!!

High school was better than junior high, at least, but it was still so filled with immature cruelty even from people who ended up good eggs, you are in situations where you have to deal with so many things that you just aren't really ready to deal with, at least how it played out for me...but given that...I second plate of shit w/side of whipped crap...

Junior high left scars...I'd have to give it a good think to come up with a suitable metaphor for that...but I do have a hilarious pic from 7th grade that I'll post if I can get it to scan. Its a freaking polaroid, too <grin>

I'm a bit out of touch with US schooling - how old is Junior High?
High School here is 11 or 12 up to 16.

Typical US school system...

Elementary School: grades 1-5, roughly ages 6-10.
Junior High (aka intermediate school): grades 6-8, roughly ages 11-13.
High School: grades 9-12, roughly ages 14-17.

^ That's about the gist. Depends on where you are though. (Some high schools are grades 10-12, etc.) But that approximates well enough.

When I moved as a teen, I went from a high school that was 9-12 (I was a 9th-grader) to one that was 10-12 (I was a 10th-grader). Which essentially made me a freshman twice. THAT was fun.

But overall, high school wasn't too bad for me. It was an emotional roller coaster, of course, but for a nerd, I was one of the slightly cooler nerds, and I had my own circle of cooler nerd friends. So I survived.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

I had a mostly painless high school experience. Sure, I hated it a lot. But I think because I was a musician in a band that played all the backyard parties, I was pretty well liked by a lot of different cliques -- the nerds, the jocks, the stoners, the brainiacs, the proto-goths, the preppies and so on. Music, in essence, was my saving grace through those years.

That having been said, I also got in a bunch of fights, had my heart broken several times by several girls, and was so bored in class much of the time, I thought I would die.

But all in all, not that bad. I survived it. :)

It's just split out here. I was in jr. high 12 + 13 years old, high school 14-17 years old but I was one of those cusp-kids who started the school year at the younger age early since my birthday is end of September.

it's actually kind of funny... yeah, it's hell and whipped crap and all that, but sometimes i'm sure everyone wishes they had that part of their lives back.

i really liked being 11 - 13 yrs. old. - those were my good years. old enough to do more mature stuff, but still young enough to not have that much responsibility - and the music was AWESOME! music turned to crap around '84 or '85.... wonder why?

Edit: I changed my mind. Can I get the percussion rack? It's so shiny. (I'm even willing to let someone else man The Gong.)
