Death to drum-snob douche bags!

I actually haven't bought the new RUSH album yet. All the reviews say it's great and less like their newer stuff. I'll get it eventually, but like you BBoy, I'm totally into their older grandiose songs pre-1983ish. Some of the late 80's early 90's stuff is just downright ghey, especially with all the synths. It was the style at the time, and on one hand- kudos to changing with the times, but OTOH lame for you in not sticking to your hard core Canadian rock roots singing about castles and kings and oaks and maple trees, and 70's futuristic space invaders. :) I love the cheese factor of the older lyrics, and the rock is freaking awesome. Roll the Bones and Counter parts has some good stuff on it too, but the last 2-3 albums just seem to be all in the same vein which doesn't excite me as much.

I live right by a major outdoor concert Pavilion here in The Woodlands. I'm like 10mins down the road which is awesome compared to the 3plus hour drive not to mention traffic on top of that that I had to deal with back in MD. This year is so awesome for concerts, ALL of my favorite bands, every one of them is playing! Not only do I have The Police to go to, but right in my backyard I have 311 w/Matisyahu, RUSH, Incubus, and DMB all playing at the pavilion. I blew my concert wad on The Police (well DUH right?), so I'm not sure if I will see all of them. My wife and I "share" DMB and we always see them. Luckily they're playing after my 2nd kid is due so we went ahead and got tickets to DMB, but she's upset because she's gonna be huge and pregnant and can't see the rest. Plus I can't quite afford to see the rest anyways.

So what did all that rambling mean? I've seen RUSH 6 or so times in the last 10 years, but this may be the first year I don't see them (and quite possibly the last tour they do). But that's okay! There's this other little 3 piece band I've been dying to see....

Spec A: I've heard only one song from their new album and it sounded good; but like yourself I've seen Rush umpteen times and due to the fact they have snubbed Vancouver TWICE for concerts lately I won't be going to Seattle or Calgary to see them. I'm a bit choked with that so I couldn't resist emailing their website to emphasize that fact and also mention that I will be seeing The Police...TWICE to make up for their shortcomings. :!:
I have officially changed my home page now to SC.net and that's that. :D
Ramble on my good man.........that "other little 3 piece band" is gonna blow the roof off every place they perform at :!: 8)
°My kid wants to be an influencer.
What the hell does that mean?
°It means I’ve failed as a parent.
