As Gio says..people outside italy categorize Italian villas ( as what Sting own) as Castles... I remind some interview with someone who describe Sting have castles in different sides of world.. So finally is Italy, rumours and news tell us about TWO new songs...but perhaps if our boys jamming in the rehearsals as we all know probably could be the born of a new song (made by three of them) by jamming sessions like "Regatta de Blanc"... ;) ( Another prediction from me??) :roll:

Uhmmm It was published at an italian newspaper, also in a way confirmed by Stewart Copeland that they are making rehearsals at a castle ( well he didn't mention new songs), also It was posted on NEWS at Stingus.net

By the way this is a quote of the day published at TPT.Com:

Finally, all what you see today about THE POLICE Reunion 2007 start as a rumour.... and I have the same feeling with NEW POLICE songs than when I bet they will reunite this year...and also about the songs they performed at the rehearsals... nothing is close for THE POLICE

After hearing (and watching) the Rehearsal Part I on TPT, I could see the Police releasing a new version of one of their own songs, ala' Eric Clapton and Layla. In fact, that version of Every Little Things She Does Is Magic on the rehearsal bit would be a strong candidate in my eyes.

This doesn't mean I think they won't record a new song or two; it's just that I could see hearing a new version of Magic on the radio as well.

Maybe they'll finally achieve what they started in 1986? Re-recorded version of their previous hits. And with Stewart on DRUMS this time, no machines.

It could be a nice present for all the fans: a very special "Greatest hits" full of re-recorded versions, with these 2 new songs. It could probably be done within this short period, before the release of this "new" record, as if there's something to release, it'll be certainly just a few days before the Tour begins, in May.

OK, I haven't Jose's skills and can't predict the future like he does. But we can dream, can't we?

hehehehe sorry to burst your bubble, mate, but you need to do some 'police research'. check the liner notes of your police albums.... then check out the 'ghost' demos at thepolicechat website. guess who wrote all the hits? guess who did most of the arranging? Stingo, bud.... the point is that the POLICE did STING's songs a great deal of justice. how many songs did the police "collaborate" on in terms of songwriting?.... er....maybe one (reggatta deblanc) or two.. facts are very important in police work!

Or if not possible (because doesn’t mach with big arena sound!?!) something completely wired. I think you will get the “synchronicity” sound you aspect, I’m sure. But if it’s too much “consensual pop”, I will be disappointed. Someone said it, and is probably right: Philip is not as much a fan! Maybe.

It would be great to hear some sound structure and influence based on this works : “GIZMO” “ORCHESTRALLI” and “DERANGEMENTS”, and also “BIG THING”, “CHARMING SNAKES”, “A PIECE OF TIME”, etc.

Wait and see/Wait and read : i'm not sure the "european press" is more "tabloid" as the american one. It is the countrary, except for the UK. But the Uk are a strange country : half an aditional state to the US, half a member of the European Union.

in France there is what we call the "new scene' of french singers. It's a new generation that is compared to the best bands in the UK. They pretend to be independant (indie) wheras they are managed by the big system. There is only place for them on papers and radios.
I hope MK will manage to get an interview of the Police, in his new show.

As Giovanni says, all the rest comes often from the same single source, and then wroten in 10 different magazins, withtout any new revelation. The press is very pour, I think. Ther is not much information... except the Official marketing.

So, we are right to do expectatives....

Regardless of whether new songs are being put together at the moment, i de do do expect to hear some new material eventually, assuming things go well. And whatever new songs may materialize are very likely to be written by Sting.

It was pretty much spelled out at the Whiskey. Stewart proclaimed he just wanted to play his drums in response to a question about their past conflicts. Their working relationship was further delineated i think in an interview they ran after the rehearsal. IIRC, Sting defined their roles: S-singer/songwriter, SC-drummer, AS-guitarist, with something mentioned about making it work within that structure.

This arrangement is likely the key to their reunion working, i.e. a deterrent to the detrimental infighting that ground the whole thing to a halt the first time around. It makes sense to me, even if i personally prefer to see Stewart doing more writing. He's proved himself many times over in the past twenty years and appears well beyond the point of trying to make Sting sing his songs.

While i can't speak for the Divemistress, i think she wants to hear songs with life and energy. Stuff that doesn't put her to sleep, so to speak.

I try not to place any expectations on potential new material. I will probably appreciate it for what it's worth almost regardless of what it is. Like anybody, i'll be looking for that hook that grabs me instantneously from the first listen, but if it takes a few extra tries to get it, that's okay too

I know i recently started animating again, after about a two-year lapse. The first thing i'm doing is very short, something i figure most people will not see. After such a long break from each other, it's not hard to imagine them doing some "safe" recording to kick things off. Like a test song or a redone version-- something to spruce up a box set that's bound to have previously released stuff on it as well.

Yeah. I know this is corny - and I don't want to set expectations too high - but I keep thinking about The Beatles. Were a miracle to happen and John and George rose from the grave...plus a few other miracles...what kind of sound would it be?

I can't imagine it wouldn't be worth listening to. Which is kind of how I feel about this as well. It won't be the same, sure, and any new stuff may take some getting used to...

(Is it too much to hope for to see a Copeland or Summers writing credit...?)
