What are you listening to?

After DirtyMartini and Animal started talking about Queen vinyl (I'm glad that quote spurred you guys on!) I had to break some Queen out as well. So it's a pretty odd mix on the office iTunes - Queen, Tom Petty, Bloc Party, Police (Zenyatta), Damien Rice, Who (Endless Wire), Shins, Fountains of Wayne, Rumble Fish sndtrk...oh and some The The. Like Animal I've really gone to the past lately. Broke out The Rhythmatist vinyl even. And in the car I've got the NoThanks! punk compilation discs going.

Police by John Peel on 78/07, 79/06 and 79/07 (including the original message in a b... with Stuw and andrew on backing vocals).
I really miss that sound.

OK, shot in the dark to Nathan, here...there's a Stranglers song with the woman's name 'Christina' in the chorus, and it sounds for all the world like "This is the Day" by The The. I'm going crazy trying to find it. Lemme know if you have any pointers...

This reminds me, Divemistress. There's a Stranglers song on the La Folie album, "It Only Takes Two To Tango" that if I didn't know better I would think is a Stewart/Klark Kent song. Check it out, you'll notice it immediately. (Plus it's a classic album - now I've got to go listen to "Golden Brown".)

Currently on heavy rotation on my iTunes:

Jarvis Cocker - Jarvis
Brain Donor - Drain'd Boner (another classic album title from Julian Cope!)
The Stranglers - No More Heroes
Lou Reed - Coney Island Baby
Pernice Brothers - Discover a Lovelier You
Spoon - Kill The Moonlight

Damnit, Divemistress! Now I'll be obsessed with finding that song. I don't have all the Stranglers stuff (nothing after Dreamtime in fact) and it's almost all on vinyl (showing my age) so I'll have to do some digging. Plus, I keep humming the This Is The Day medody in my head while trying to think of Strangler's songs...

Anyway, in keeping with the thread subject: Today it's Crowded House, The Vines and because of all the discussion on another thread here Ghost and Synchronicity.

I've been shuffling all my Police stuff along with a few Sting tracks. While in jr high I fell in love with GIM - Hungry for you. I was in French class and was obsessed with learning all of the French lyrics and translating the song. I just listened to it again with a few repeats and I must say, I STILL LOVE THIS SONG! It is one of the sexiest songs ever! Stewart rocks it. I would love to hear a less horn version with a stronger Andy guitar.
Love it!

Was just out picking up my new hybrid bike (Marin brand, Redwood model) and getting some sushi...and listening to Zenyatta. ;)

Guys, sorry for getting everyone in a stir on that Stranglers song. But one day it just popped into my head and I've been looking for weeks. Problem is, any search for "Christina" + "Stranglers" + "lyrics" results in a zillion hits by that Aguilera character. What's worse is that the webmistress for stranglers.net is named, you guessed it, Christina. So nearly all hits for the band have her name in them.

I'll pop that album in and check it out, Omaha.
