New LES CLAYPOOL tour!!!!

How is his solo stuff? I have a couple Primus cds and love them, and definitely love the Oysterhead stuff, but never heard anything he's done solo. I imagine it's not too far removed.

Not far removed at all. The man's got a style all his own. Primus tends to be a little harder than his other projects.

If you like Primus, you'll like everything he's ever done. Try "Of Whales and Woe" or "Purple Onion". He did one album where he played all of the instruments (KK style) called "Highball With The Devil" that was fun. One of his earlier projects was called "Sausage" and there are some really great tracks on that.

you rebel...

Kinda OT: Speaking of being in the pits. I went to a Misfits show a few years back and had the most bizarre experience.

I'm not a misfits fan, but my friend wanted me to go with her and her fiance. He loveees them. So, there I am dressed in khaki bell bottoms and an orange tshirt looking all summery and sweet. I stood out like a sore thumb in the sea of black. ha. Then! They take me into the pit. Okay, I've been in the pit at other shows before, this is no problem, right? Um no. I stood my ground for a good long while until things got really insane and I was pushed to the ground. No clue how it actually happened, but then people were stepping on me and I really thought, "this is it". Then, out of no where (think Twin Peaks atmosphere) this bald midget dude seems to part the crowd and holds out his hand to me and pulls me up and then he freaking disappears! It was so out of this world. I was saved by a bald midget phantom! When I finally made it to the side of the stage to find my friends, they saw I had a huge boot mark on my chest from being stomped on and someone's blood on my sleeve. And to this day I still have no explanation for the midget man. I told my nephew this story and he just thought it was the coolest thing that his aunt was at a misfits show and almost died. 8)

That's hysterical - even while scary as shit.

I dunno, I just had one bad experience getting caught in a pit once and nearly lost an eye when someone shoved an elbow into my glasses. Fortunately I made it out with just a cut to the eyelid, but it scared the fuck out of me (also because it took FOREVER to escape the moshers and get to safety in the back of room. So I just refuse to get caught in that kind of scene ever again, especially as I have some crowd issues to begin with.

Hard to believe that's the way it has to be, isn't it?

I was just about to bitch about that.

x2 in the case of Mo and me.

But we're in.

Bella, I must repeat sockii's sentiment -- that is hysterical and scary as shit. Big love to bald midget phantoms.

I'll be in Philly, Bets.

I know that come late March, I'd kick myself if I didn't try to see you guys when the opportunity arose.

I feel you guys. I almost got my neck broken when somebody landed on me in the pit once. You can't beat the view and the energy down there, tho. I try to avoid the overt violence you find sometimes, and just stay as close to the front as possible. It doesn't hurt that I'm pretty good-sized :)
