It was really great to get out and see the country this way, to meet lots of local folks and other travelers, and to push myself to ride longer distances on successive days than I've ever ridden before.
And I'm happy to report that my gravel crash injury is healing nicely (I liked the green med tape too!). This pic might amuse you:

The gravel really chewed up my hands, and after I bandaged them, we all joked that I looked like I was taping my hands for a gig

In addition to the Ian/Stewart connection here, one of my fellow riders on Team Corps of Discovery is a melanoma survivor as well. So we were mindful every day about sunscreen, about not riding during the most intense hours of the day, and about the importance of melanoma awareness.
