Sorry we missed you, dt. Real life does intervene on the fun sometimes.
I wish I could blame you and Hannah, smudge...instead I blame the vaguaries of the U.S. exchange rate, which landed us in a hotel on the other side of the world...we didn't get back until after midnight...and I didn't even get us lost this time. Oh well. We're both pretty sleepy but doing all right.
Gina just ran out to the Arena to try to get one of these wristbands written about earlier. I'm going to really try to make the meetup, but I've never been to Amsterdam before and I'm not at all confident I can find this place (I've never been on the Metro and the train timetables were in Dutch); I noticed there were no attendants at the trains; and the hotel desk says it'll be over 100 euros to take a cab out there. Wish me luck. Gina may make it if she can get this wristband issue sorted, but we really have no information at this point so no telling whether she'll score one/if there's a long line/etc. She's trying to find Dietmar but we have no mobile number for him, so he may wind up with the flag tonight.
Pity we didn't know about this wristband thing in advance, but that's how it goes I suppose. (I've got a seated ticket tonight so I didn't have to head over early.) Hopefully we can find some of you at some point, we just hit some unexpected snags (we both very nearly missed our flights...can I just say that when an airport hotel shuttle advertises rides to the airport, the signs should indicate it doesn't go to one of the terminals, rather than relying on you to figure that out?) We took a wrong turn on the train when we first got to Amsterdam and lost a lot of time, etc.
Sigh. It'll still be worth it - I'm excited to see the boys...it's just part of those lessons you learn when you first travel to a new place. See some of you very soon, I hope. Dive
