Mario, the wrongest mistake in your life is being involved like you are now to this place ...AHAHAHAHAHAH.... now you will see it's like a drug (a good drug anyway), you will be addicted to our stories, to our fun....

We're like Draculas, we will get your blood but you will need ours...ihihih!

At the end of the day...it's only rock'n'roll...and you will love it!

Thanks for getting deeper into our threads! You are more than welcome and I really hope The Police will play in Brasil...it would be a shame not to include it in this great tour!

Guys! This is great! I can say I really feel welcome!

Georgygirl here are the lyrics of Fragile in Portuguese:

E amanha a chuva levara
O sangue que a luta deixou derramar
Na pele a dor do aco tao cruel
Jamais a nossa voz vai calar

Um ato assim pode acabar
Com uma vida e nada mais
Porque nem nessmo a violencia
Destroi ideais
Tem gente que nao sente que a mundo assim
Ficara fragil demais

Choro eu e voce
E o mundo tambem, e o mundo tambem
Choro eu e voce
Que fragilidade, que fragilidade"

I forgot who wrote that version, but it is not very inspired. Too literal of a translation.

Gio, Lara, Jose, everybody, thank you so much for your messages.

There are some rumors that the Police will play in Brazil in December. It seems that they didn't decide on the venue yet. We have several options but I think in Rio, Maracana Stadium would be the best option. At the time Sting played there in 87, the attendance was 150.000. Now they remodeled the staduim and it "only" holds 100.000. Still, it could be huge!! Talk about the energy our Stew would just absorb from that crowd. They love the Police here!!!

See you soon my friends!!

Thank you very much for the lyrics of Fragile on Portuguese.

I have to confess that this is the version that I like it the most, from Fragile song.

Hi, Mario!
Welcome to the group! I hope that you get good news about the Police in Brazil. They have brought so much joy and fun and great music to us here in the U.S. When I read posts like yours I almost feel guilty for having so many shows and still looking forward to seeing more. I hope you enjoy getting to know everyone here!

Samburusunste, Susan, Policerule, thank you for your nice welcome messages!

Jose, they have to play Lima. Thay have to shoot footage at Nazca, Cuzco and Machu Picchu and the new DVD woulf feel like PATW II.

Georgygirl, it's cool that you like the portuguese version of "Fragile" the most. Let me tell you, his pronounciation is kind of funny, but the song was a huge sucess here in 87/88. Never heard this version on the radio since. Although I lived in L.A. from 1990 til 2000.

Yep I am totally share your opinion... some shoots of them in the land of the Incas, ... perhaps not like the same video-clip of "Man in a suitcase" in Australia surrounded by sheeps, but perhaps here at "Macchu Picchu" a video-clip of the new version of "Truth Hits Everybody" surrounded by "Llamas" & "Alpacas" and wearing nice "Chullos-Hat" 8)

Hi Mario, welcome here !
No video records, at least for my knowledge, of the 2 concerts at Maracanazinho in Feb 1982. In PATW video it kind of looks lie "When the worls i running down..." could be in Rio but I think it's from the L.A. concert at the Arts and Variety Theater, not sure though.
No video or audio recordings of The Police in Rio, you're right.
There are only nice footages of Rio beach and Sugar Loaf mountain in ATW, where was shot the video of "When The World...", but - and you're right again - the live performance is from LA concert, january 16, 1981, where you had to be blond to get in !

Thank you for confirming those facts, Olivier. Actually when the Police played Rio in 1982 there were several problems. First they were booked for 2 days at Maracanazinho Arena. The place had bad acoustics and the sound, reportedly, was terrible. They were not that well know here. Only from Do do do do and a Brazilian cigarette commercial that spotted "ELTSDIM" although I am not sure "GITM" was already released in Brazil at that time.

Another problem, they were booked during the carnival holidays, and as you know, Brazil stops during carnival. As a result the media focus was not on the concerts and they got half houses on both nights. That might explain the fact that there is no known register of the shows. In spite of that, some friends of mine attended the one concert and it was supposedly amazing. Andy, Stew and Sting were totally tanned from the beach and actually came back after the Chile concerts for some days off in town.

There is actually a report that during his stay in Rio in 82, Sting fell asleep on the beach and got some bad sunburns on his body.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome message. Man, am I having fun here...

I am pretty sure is Mas Cerveza...the Sting equivalent of Mas Tequila...
But maybe he pronounced "Un" like "Ahn", like an English speaker would do...
