Classic rock awards - vote for Everyone Stares!

Postby policerule on 21 Aug 2007 21:32

i like pete's musical contributions and all - and his ferocity - BUT he'd better not mess with my band! that's all i'm sayin. i know he didn't, i was misled. i'm not a huge fan of his rumored personal preferences either, so i'm a little put off by pete these days and yes, that effects my decisions about voting even though it has nothing to do with the music. pearl jam was a great band too, but i can't stand eddie vedder's attitude and so i have a gripe with them too. i can't explain it any better.

I was not big on PJ either, but Eddie sings a MEAN Love reign O'er me.
Pete has been anything: spiritual, drug addict, alcoholic, bisexual, homosexual, straight, grumpy old man, religious, raped, abused, atheist, perennial self-destroyer, life of the party, intellectual and self-effacing.
He is THE SEEKER (Who are you, ooh-ooh? If you can get past CSI, you will find a perfect description of him).

So what is that bothers you, my friend? I only see a desperately tormented, genial soul.

Cor it's getting deep. I believe Pete's alright and don't believe he's a kiddy fiddler as it was in the papers a couple of years ago that he'd downloaded some child porn for an 'project' he was working. If he is, I'd personally punch the bloke if I met him but I don't buy it. He has kids of his own. But you never can tell. I choose Pete's side as his work has always been to relay down and depressing circumstances of himself and other people in the way of song, film etc. But I could be wrong and if I am, I hope he goes down one day and gets battered by every screw and lag in there but I choose not to believe it.

On a lighter note has anyone ever noticed that when you look at your reflection on the back of spoon, you look exactly like Pete himself. You should try it. It's proven scientific fact.

Where are these votes!!!!

Voted. Of course, I voted for Everyone Stares, but I would still recommend that Zappa DVD.

No. He. Has. Not. I never believed it for a second. Roger said he would have strangled him with his own hand if he had the slightest hint that it was true.
He was with his son at the moment, not alone. He was researching because he has been a victim of child abuse, and being an overanalyzer, he wanted to know why it happens.
Don't throw the first stone ever. People are innocent until proven guilty, and he has been cleared of all charges.
[you will say, so has Michael Jackson, but Pete did not emigrate to Dubai].

Pete's website used to have a lot of info that explained the whole story. However, he has since changed the format of his website and it does not have that info.

Anyway, my research shows that the police investigated Townshend's story and they found he was telling the truth. He had been working closely with anti-child abuse groups prior to the time of the internet incident, and they were able to verify to the police Pete's story. Pete was given a warning by the police,as it was official policy that anyone logging on such site must be warned but no further action was taken.

The sad thing is that because of the way the whole thing was blown up in the press, Pete decided to disassociate himself with abuse groups he had been working with for some time. He did not want any potential stigma to attach to the organizations he wanted to help. It's a shame that probably a lot of abused kids could have benefited from Pete's help.

I never said I agreed with it just taking Rogers stance. Would want to kill him too if it was true. I love Pete Townsend and believe in him all the way. Its just the police leaking it to the newspapers and there you have it, the first stone was thrown and then it spreads like wildfire.

Don't worry he's not one of them.

Try the spoon thing though. It's funny.

Concur 100%. Pete would not harm anybody but himself, as he has been doing since he was born.

Sounds like someone on the police force wanted a little extra $$ for their pension.

Corruption is all around. The more authority and so called 'higher up' people go the more corrupt they get.

It was a slimey move and a nasty poke at a great atistic talent. The police aren't cool. In my experience they've never done anything for me and all my encounters with them have been negative especially when younger and never did much wrong.

However THE POLICE are cool!!!!
