JOSE reported 7,9 EARTHQUACKE in PERU (NOW 506 deads)

Postby jeffdaweasel on 16 Aug 2007 15:55

They've upgraded this quake to an 8.0.

That's huge. I can't even imagine it. The biggest one for me was the January 1994 Northridge quake, which was a 6.7, with a lot of ground accelleration (the highest resorded in an urban area at the time).

It's scary. I'm glad you are okay.

YOW!!! How did I miss THIS?!

Jose!! Be well! Grab your Police CD collection and put it in the trunk of your car!

Keep us updated...

(sheez, I just missed being in this myself...8.0. Holy mackerel.

I live near a famous fault line (New Madrid) and we all pray there won't be such a strong quake....you never know.)

Glad things turned out relatively OK and that none of Peru's priceless treasures (Nazca Lines, Machu Picchu) were damaged.

[Edit: Just read bbc.co.uk...337 people killed?! How horrible! Let us know if there's any group receiving money donations for this, Jose...]

I am so sorry for the victims and their families, only consolation is that it could have been much worse if the epicentre was more on the surface.

These are events that put everything into perspective.

Glad to hear you are safe! And so sorry for the victims of the earthquake.
Lima didn't have a big damage. Still be careful. There are some invisible damages and risks aroud the town after the big earthquake.

Jose! You were the first thing I thought of when I heard the news! Stay safe dude! Next important item - is the stadium near you where the Police will play safe?!

Check in over at the Backstage because they were asking for you over there.

Whenever I think of earthquakes I think of the Northridge one, and of Ian running out into the street naked. Damn that boy had some good stories! I miss him dearly.
