Smudge, we are indeed. May have to do a little off-list on that at some point.

Reading: "Room of One's Own," Virginia Woolf. Just got it on the brain one day & picked it up at our local and very awesome used bookatorium.
On Google - site:stewartcopeland.net "your keyword here" - thanks DM!!

I started reading that when it first came out. I mostly read in public places while waiting for my kids during their various activities. The title made me feel very self-conscious as I read in such places, and I didn't get very far into it before putting it aside. Now that it is much more well known, I'll have to take it up again. My daughter chose to read it for an independant study unit in English, and loved it.

So far I really love it as well, even though it's pretty shocking at times.

"Rip It Up And Start Again" by Simon Reynolds.

An informative account of the post-punk days from 1978-1984 - the "golden era" of music in my humble opinion.

Get it.

I'm reading The Innocent Man by John Grisham and I wish I wasn't.

It's sad, disturbing, utterly miserable and very very hard to put down.

I've got to find something funny to read after this.

I am on page 70-something of Under The Dome by same said you know who. Only 1000 pages left! I weighed this sucker-- 3.5 lbs. At almost 2 1/2 inches thick it's a little awkard to hold. Fortunately it's a good one so far, but I do have to "put it down" sometimes just to give my hands a rest!

Even if it's awful (and I know it won't be) I will finish it, having like you, Lilrock, "read everything he ever wrote". And most more than once.

re-re-re-reading 'Titus Groan'.. literally fantastic, 'sprawling', 'gothic' and 'masterpiece' are usually the words you hear used to describe mervyn peake's best known (series of) book/ s 'Gormenghast' (Titus Groan, Gormenghast and Titus Alone)..... words like 'humorous' should be used more often, and some of the descriptions/metaphors used are incredible (all of which escape me right now)... a wonderful book.....

Steerpike, a callow, arrogant, friendless, ambitious youth who escape's from Swelter's kitchen's in the castle and starts a journey across the cities' roof tops is the name of gordo's portable studio and he owns the rights to the radio play of Gormenghast and played gormanghast when he did the radio play some years ago........

Going to spend the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend:
Finishing Fool's Gold by Gillian Tett (a great book if you want to know how we got in this financial mess)
9 Dragons by my favorite Michael Connelly(love Harry Bosch)
Also have Inherent Vice by Thomas Pynchon which I have heard raves about. Also getting on audio from my library so I may listen to that.
Also have the new E. L. Doctorow, "Homer and Langley" on audio going to listen to that on the way to work next week. Some reviews I have read have not been good, but I loved his last one "The March".

8) Love this thread. I am always looking for new things to read.
Have we got touchdown

Just finished The Campion book.
Might as well, I said to myself, since I shelled the mazuma.
Feelings went from  to :x to  to  .
Tourzilla in particular. Whatever the motives, it brought so much joy and happiness all around the world that even in their "suspended in putrefaction" form (quote) one simply cannot dismiss the event that way. WTF is wrong with the guy? He used to be a decent writer.
Explication in the "thank yous": all the people who had an axe to grind with the P'leece were there. So it should have been titled not "Walking on the Moon" but "Eating up your liver".

Trust me when I say that even Stingo receives a really, really nasty treatment that he does not deserve. And if Towos sez it, you can believe it.
Interesting and worth reading are the parts where the punk scene, the recording industry, and what happened to various then-trendy figures are discussed.
Soooo...unless you're a completist or a masochist, I'd say definitely SKIP IT. :|

New John Irving book. "Last Night in Twister River". Also trying to finish "Raising Cain" a book about parenting very unruly rambunctious boys. The advice in that one seems to work for every boy in the universe except my two.
