Even though GiTM is out, this has been my favorite thread on sc.net all week.

Thanks for the frequent updates, EQ!

29 albums left alive.

Latest to be axed:
Van Halen by Van Halen

They should have considered doing Regatta de Blanc. Its quirkiness would have suited Phish. Imagine Fishman singing On Any Other Day. And because Regatta's my favorite album.

After Hot Rats was killed (my fav FZ), I had my money on Apostrophe (2nd fav FZ). The quirkiness of that album along with the musical virtuosity seemed a very good fit.

9 left alive

Recently killed

Led Zeppelin | Zeppelin I
Van Morrison | Astral Weeks

If the rumors hold true, only one more album will be axed before 10-31, leaving 8 possibilities to be played at Festival 8. To recap, here are the albums still alive:

David Bowie | Hunky Dory
Genesis | The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway
Jimi Hendrix | Electric Ladyland
King Crimson | Larks' Tongues In Aspic
MGMT | Oracular Spectacular
Michael Jackson | Thriller
Prince | Purple Rain
Radiohead | Kid A
Rolling Stones | Exile on Main Street

Thus, the earlier rumor regarding the what the final 8 albums would be remaining appears to be true.

As that rumor seems to have panned out, it must be noted that the rumor has been that the album to be played is MGMT's Oracular Spectacular.

Sorry Smax. The last album to be killed off before Halloween is . . . THRILLER.

So, the final 8 for Festival 8 are:

1. David Bowie | Hunky Dory
2. Genesis | The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway
3. Jimi Hendrix | Electric Ladyland
4. King Crimson | Larks' Tongues In Aspic
5. MGMT | Oracular Spectacular
6. Prince | Purple Rain
7. Radiohead | Kid A
8. Rolling Stones | Exile on Main Street

I think there will be no more albums killed off on the website. We just have to wait for the show. Again, if you have Sirius, you can listen live.
