OT: Impossible/unlikely band reunions?

Postby Divemistress of the Dark on 24 Mar 2009 17:45

I saw a Seagulls reunion show back in 1996 and it was pretty great. Had two or three of the original guys, including Mike Score, the guy with The Hair.

You know, was just listening to an album of theirs after inexplicably waking up one morning earwormed with "It's Not Me Talkin'"...

Oh yeah. You know, they had some really great songs, not just those two big hits. You might want to look into their deeper catalog.

ETA. Great. Just what I need, another FOS earworm. ;)
Completely outside DM's brief, but scarily it seems Spandau Ballet are about to announce a reunion. I heard it on Twitter. It must be True.
Reminds me, tangentially, wasn't there an ABC reunion (sort of) a while back? I think I actually wore out 'How to be a Zillionaire'
ABC? They've been touring for a while. Someone shoot me before I book this - 8th April, Royal Albert Hall, with the BBC Concert Orchestra, performing 'Lexicon of Love'.

I heard ABC was decent. I almost saw them last year, but the show was rained out.

Shit. I'm going to end up dancing like a 1982 teenager in the gallery at the Royal Albert Hall. And I'm blaming you if I do :-)

I saw ABC last year and I think Martin FRY (F R Y) was the only original member. But the most important, and he/they sounded GREAT!

FOS played the same 80s show and were terrible. It was just Mike Score who was original and his voice was bad!

Human League also played (mostly original) and was very good!

I'm a FOS fan, but didn't enjoy the performance.

ABC is going out on the Regeneration Tour again this year with Cutting Crew, Wang Chung, Berlin (not all dates) and a few others.

I would love to see Spandau Ballet, but I think they are only going to tour UK and EU.
I could be replaced by any bright spark.

Hilarious "Get Happy" era Costello commercial:

(sorry, I know it's a little OT but we'd been discussing the Attractions breakup earlier...and it's not such a bad segue from Maggie's 80's discussion, I'm hopin')

^^^
I think it is not too OT, since I think this thread has segued into ‘80s bands or ‘80s Hair Bands, or '80s bands you may have forgotton you once played on your Walkman :? :?

I love Spandau Ballet, but if you read the tour annoucement press release it sounds like they are the second coming of Jesus. And I'm IN PR.

Andy Taylor (Duran Duran's former guitarist) slags them off pretty well in his recent biography. Basically, DD and SB started around the same time and had some of the same fans/friends. But DD went on to become bigger and Andy rubs it in.
