Let me write that down (getting a pen and pad): peeing in your pants in front of a crowd during a concert is NOT kool. Good to know. Good to know.

What about Bjork? Is she kool? I think so. Kate Bush is most definitely super-kool. I think Lisa Gerrard (of Dead Can Dance) is kool too, although her post-DCD solo stuff is too mellow for me.

Did The Google on Neko Case. I was guessing that she would have been Japanese (Neko = cat, though not sure if the spelling is the same). Learn new stuff on this forum all the time.

Bjork made my first list [among the men]. Yes, the person I know works for a non profit who worked with U2....
DG, You're not alone...Wellah is certainly the Heir to the Throne of Townshend, and he is one of the very few musicians to be inspired by Traffic, my FBE!!!

Yeah, I love Weller too. But there was a thread on here a while ago about what a raving giant asshole he is IRL...I forget the details. May have been him slagging on Sting, although he'd hardly be unique in that.

Naw, Neko's a great Virginia-born vocalist who records her own albums and sings with the mighty New Pornographers. Might be up your alley. I just saw her play the Ryman (opening for Rufus Wainwright, who was hilarious) and she'll be doing a tour with the NPs later this year. Kind of poppy, melodic stuff. Her solo work is more of the singer/songwriter ilk...I'd say there's a heavy Johnny Cash influence, although she also claims to have written a particularly dark album after watching a bunch of David Lynch movies.

I heard her voice called a 'crystalline bazooka' by a reviewer once, which works for me.

I've seen Deal a bunch of times too, once with the Pixies back in 1988 when there were about 10 people in the audience, once with the Amps, also in a small club...she rocketh mightily, that is for sure.
On Google - site:stewartcopeland.net "your keyword here" - thanks DM!!

I have seen the Reunion Tour of the Pixies 2 years ago, and when they did Gigantic, it was undescribable! She kept chugging beer, chain-smoking and singing like an angel while a possessed Frank Black went WAAAAAHHHRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Most of the time......
The Breeders came here in my home town and I was away!!!

I know how to play almost all the Amps Album...Yay! I suck, but at least manage to get around those songs!!! They are not more than 3 notes at the time...

I'm sleepy. Anyone else sleepy? Anyways, looks like I will not be posting photos until probably August 23. I was too sleepy yesterday after work to post them and it is my daughter's birthday today so I will busy with that tonight. It's also my anniversary. So no photos until the 23rd. I want to see if I can lighten up a good pic I have of Laz before I post it.

(dude, I know; this topic has been beaten to death; just let me post my pics and then I promise I will moooooooove on)
(still really sleepy; Mountain Dew having no effect)

Thanks. By the way, I plan to change my avatar shortly, so enjoy it while you can. Just been too lethargic recently. Doesn't help that iPhoto takes FOREVER to download photos onto my computer (I must be doing it wrong), which discourages me from doing anything regarding my camera.

mtobjones,

Thank goodness you are safe! I thought about you. I know here they make it appear much worse than it is, but still.

Welcome back!

Awww, shucks!

I thought about you guys too. And checked online just before the hurricane hit to make sure Jose was ok in Peru!

It was an interesting experience. I stayed at a small family resort with the kids, and we were supposed to go to an ecoresort with Tree Houses on Friday. I made the call not to move- and it was a smart one. Im pretty sure tree houses are awesome fun, but not in 150 mph+ winds.

We had amazing "calm before the storm" weather on Saturday-eerie. Snorkeled and dove all day. Sunday was endless waiting for the storm and freaky. We lost power, but the place took such nice care of us.

They were well prepared and never stopped looking after us. And they were so amazed when my kids and I were asking how they were and if their houses and families were ok!

Luckily, we had stayed on the north side of the island- no one was really hurt. Getting home was no fun (3 kids in endless airport lines as the airports had been closed for days) but we had so much fun and my kids made me promise to go back.

No problem mon- or, as the kiwis say, No Worries!
My team at work called me the "unsinkable mtobinjones"!
