FRIENDS OF LEROY COOLBREEZE - Melanoma WALK - PHILLY MAY 10

Postby sockii on 09 May 2008 15:19

I sent out my final round of whoring and pimping requests this morning.

Now if vespa and I hit anything good in Atlantic City tonight before the Van Halen show, you can bet I'll be throwing some more $$'s in myself!
Ooooh, Van Halen. I'm thinking of going when they hit here Thursday. Hoping to pick-up a cheap ticket somewhere. They were my second favorite band in high school.

Have fun Sock and Vespa!
Thanks. We had such a great time at the two Philly shows last September that we couldn't miss getting in one final show. This time we're 4th row on Wolfie's side so vespa's gonna have a "Wolfie 4 President" sign to be a good ol' attention whore.

Oh and as far as meetups?

Well vespa and I are going to try our best to get over concert hangover to be on site for 9am registration. Don't expect us to make it any earlier than that.

He says he knows a kickass place in the area if we want to do lunch or whatever afterwards, but I guess we'll play it by ear at this point?

Hey, one more day to go!! Can't wait to see everyone!

I'll be heading out at pretty much the crack of dawn to get down there, so don't count on me for any pre-walk bloody marys, Bets! Lunch afterwards sounds great though!

Get out those walkin' shoes and don't forget sunscreen!!

And sockii and Dave, have a great time tonight! I'll be sending some way big winning casino vibes your way!

Damn, it has been a tough couple weeks for my friends and cancer.

Just found out that 2 friends (neither real close to me) have been diagnosed with cancer.

I found out yesterday that a friend has leukemia.

Today, I found out another, much younger friend has some rare form of skin cancer that may have spread. Seemingly not melanoma.

Last week another friend finally lost his long battle with colon cancer.

DAMN IT.

I threw some more money to the donation pile for my friends.

Sorry to be a downer on the walk-preparation discussions but I am in a bad mood right now, for obvious reasons.

I do hope the walkers have a great time tomorrow, and it is good to do something to deal with this damn disease(s), although I feel very powerless at this moment.
