but still, how much would the gong that Stewart hits cost....?
Really good cymbals are made by hand and take a long time, and are made by veteran craftsmen. they are very expensive, and the larger they are, the more they usually cost.

A 60" Paiste symphonic gong retails for around $12,000.

Now you know. :)

..and to think that just last weekend I was just in So Cal, and drove right by the guitar center where Stewart will be signing. Crap. Just missed it.

If anyone can say hi to stewart from cpriddims I would appreciate it. If you can even get me an autographed new anthology cd I will pay you for it pronto and even send you a copy of my rhythmatist tour bootleg from 1994 on cd.

anyone??

So, are all you lucky little bastards who are going to see Stew tomorrow getting excited yet?

I know would be. I'm excited about flying up to see my woman tomorrow, of course, but that's a different kind of excited. Like, Stew would NOT satisfy that excitement, not that there's anything wrong with that.

But still, I wish you all the best of luck in...

- Getting there.
- Finding parking.
- Dealing with the line of people.
- Getting some one-on-one time, no matter how brief, with Our Hero.

I expect massive reports, mondo pictures, and everything else. Allow me to live vicariously through you! And no matter what, do have fun. :)

Have a great day all :)

With this event now only a day away, I have noticed my skin taking on a decidedly green pallor!! Oh well! I wish I could be there, but I do wish everyone who IS going a memorable, fun day! Remember...you're standing in line for all of us!!

Me, I'll be heading out to NJ to visit my mother...there are no words.

Now, unless your mom is like Andy's mother, you should be happy to visit her, even if it means losing the event. We take our loved ones for granted too often. [Sorry, I feel about this because my family is 20,000 miles away and I cannot visit often].

Holy expensive percussion equipment batman! We used to have little one in the school orchestra and it used to be the SHIT if you got to hit it. We have a small one in my taiko group and I always love playing it.

That reminds me, there's a James Brown album (Payback) where he has a gong and it gets used to separate all the songs. I think they rented it and just wanted to get their money's worth out of it. And now I know why.
Thanks to Sockii (you rockii) for awesome Avatar photo!

um, i am retardedly giddy.

i would say more about my state of mind but it would literally all start to sound like "squeeeee!" and it would only serve to embarass me.

i still don't know what i am wearing. it's searingly hot but i will be coming from work so i am trying to present myself with some semblance of (non-sweaty) class.

i will be looking for all of you there so if you see a lady in black pants with long auburn hair, looking spastic & giddy, be sure to say "hello".

PEOPLE ARE ALREADY SHOWING UP?!?!?!?!?!?

AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I will be wearing my green tube socks. You will recognize me as the guy WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back in line because he thought showing up at 10 a.m. for a 7 pm would give him PLEEENTY of time.
(F@#$K! I'm still in my office in Vegas!)
There is no bigger gong.
