The Police - a 1978 setlist riddle

Postby smax on 10 Mar 2009 15:32
means tea-time between two sets.

Bernward
I know that's the obvious answer, but, i dunno.

a set at the hope n anchor, punky tunes each scrapping 3 minutes long: it seems like a lot of hassle for each band to do 10/15 mins then have a change over....... might be the case but it's funner to think of a lost song...

the only time i've ever had a gig where you split the set is if you're gonna be playing for a while (like 2 X 45 mins) somewhere hideous and cabaret or you're at one odd venue in balham that has four bands doing 15 mins each rotating 3 times... but that's a lot of hassle with full backline and stuff.... and i dont think it's the case.... not a proper tea break anyway, maybe gordo was sipping on some earl grey or whatever... and wouldn't it be easier to draw a line under the first set? or write the word "break"?, and "rosy lee" looks like it's written with the same promenance as the song titles........

Lucky number seventh welcome to you, Bernward!

I know nothing about the chronology of the early songs (i.e. when they were written and when they were first performed) and I'm prepared to be educated. But here's some random thoughts from the presently ignorant...Perhaps Rosy Lee is indeed referring to a tea break, but not an actual break, just a change from the "set" setlist. Maybe it's what they called the improvisational jamming that brought about Regatta and maybe Masoko Tanga. I remember Stewart saying something somewhere about how they would just jam to stretch out a set back in the early days when their songs were short, fast and not so plentiful.
In Dallas, the only game that really mattered was in the word gamelan.
