Aww, shucks. Thanks, Mrs. G. You made me blush. :D

Popcorn Blizzard was actually one of Meatloaf's early bands, not that I was in it or anything. The name just sounds cool.

personal opinion:

I hate these names. I want to deal with people with real names - not hiding behind anything...

So I'm Dietmar, that's a real name.

That wouldn't work, there would be multiples of names, it would get confusing.

Like I'm Erin, although it's not a very common name, but someone named John or Sara, there would be many...

Dietmar, I always think of your name as "Ahh damn, I spoiled my diet!"

Did you tell him you are copelandos d'amour? We always talk about the names you all choose to 'hide' your real name....[/quote]

No, I didn't. It didn't cross my mind. I hope he knew I loved him though, 'cause he seemed to think that I didn't know who he was.

I've always used my real name because no one believes that it's my real name.

I've been using sockii on-line for about 10 years...it just stuck and people remember me/it better than my real name (plus it comes in handy at events or conventions when there might be 50 Nicole's hanging around...)

Well, yeah, me too. I don't mind people knowing my actual name (Jean, which I use on BackstageCafe.com), but when I signed up I noticed other people had pseudonyms so I figured that was the way things were done around here.

I am actually a "divemaster," which applies to both men and women, but what the heck - I love cheezy 50s horror movies, so I figured this one might evoke a couple things I'm interested in. (I guess I should have called myself "Elvira, Divemistress of the Dark," but a.) that doesn't make sense and b.) I'm too lazy to type something that long every time I log in. ;) Not sure what I'll do when I complete another level of my scuba instruction certification this October..."Full instructor of the dark" just doesn't have the same ring to it.)

Oh, and yes, I'm getting asked a lot of questions about the Steve Irwin thing. Stingrays are mostly harmless, and I flat don't believe he wasn't handling the animal when it speared him. I'm sorry he's dead, but wild animals should be treated with caution.)

Why would Stewart think you didn't know who he was, Lara? I mean, you went to the viewing and Q&A, didn't you? I wonder if he does get people who wander in off the street...

Were there a lot of people there?

(I had forgotten about the Meat Loaf reference with 'Popcorn Blizzard,' PB. That is hilarious.

A couple years ago at Halloween hub and I dressed up as Loaf and sidekick and performed the 'Paradise by the Dashboard Light' video...I'll post photos if I can find some. It was pretty goshdamn funny, if I say so myself.)

I love to use nicknames.

Sometimes a nick is more real and have more power than your own name.

Anyway, here in this board my nick georgy is the same as my name 'georgina :| , but in other write works I love to use nickname...

Is no to hide anything, is just another step of my personality.

Is like being in fantasy land where you can use your imagination in a free way.

What do you think Dietmar about Klark Kent or Kinetic Kid nicknames from Stewart Copeland? :?:

Well, since I'm pretty young I thought he might've thought I came there with an older friend or a boyfriend or something.
I think that a lot of Police fans are much older than me.
It defenitely wasn't a full house at the screening, maybe half the seats were taken or something. But that made the event much nicer.

Y'know, I have really sensitive ears, from an operation, so when I fly it feels like someone's stabbing my ears with a knife or something. And it hurts for days afterwards too and I experience a slight loss of hearing.
It was worth it though 'cause not only did I get to go to this screening but I also got the chance to go for a wonderful six hour walk around London.
I got lost big time! It was great though.
I love going for long walks.

Sounds like you had a great time Lara - good for you!

As for the screen names, Ian used his own name on the Backstage site, and most people there do the same, so I did as well. Since many of the people who post there also post here, and I know Stewart reads both boards, I just figured I'd carry on with it here.

I wanted to change it to something cool, but when I asked the crew at the Backstage site if they minded, they said not too, 'cuz they already know me as myself, lol.

For Sting's board I chose Roxanneoh. You know, like he sings it live, like he's seranading me, lol! It was that or Sally, and choosing between a prostitute and a love toy was a tough one, but in the end I went with the lady Miles said changed everyone's lives, including mine. So that's my story!

Anyway is good both.

Is good if someone like to use nicknames, and is also good is someone dislike to use it.

The important thing is to meet us that have someting in common as Police or Stewart's music...

I should've chosen another username though 'cause someone else on this board had (almost) the same user name as me and I had no idea.
I used copelandos_damour 'cause Outlandos D'amour is my favorite Police album.

Mine too.

We have the same Police's preferences.
