Giovanni you're so lucky! :D You get to talk with Stewart in person and everything! When and how did you FIRST meet Stewart? And how did you get him to have this be his official website?
I always think of it as Stewart sitting on a bench smoking a cig, then this shadow passes over him....someone's snuck up behind him : X "STEWART! I got you a Birthday present"

Maybe that is a wish present for you Mrs. G, but what about a gift for Stewart's birthday present?

It is coming...

Hey it could be for him too....just because I'd enjoy it dosen't mean he wouldn't.

Yes it is coming, July 16th. (HP release date, that's why I remember lol)

How about an Oysterhead album and tour, of North and South America? OK Italy too...

meeting Stew

Postby giovanni on 12 Jul 2006 20:10

I decided to open the first website after years of thinking about it...one day I learned about building a website by myself, it took me a few months (Idid that in my spare time) and built a couple of websites: www.illegaltales.com dedicated to The Police & Sting for Italian fans, and www.stewartcopeland.it for all of us diehard fans of Stewart.

A few weeks later Stewart arrived in Italy for a Tama signature tour, and that's where I met him in person for the first time (I was so thrilled!!!); I showed him the website through a few papers and told him it was my birthday gift for him (he became 50 two days before I met him).

He liked it and since then every time he came back to Italy I had the chance to meet him, talk, going out in tour, collaborating on promotion....I asked him if we could consider that website a sort of officila, and he was more than happy for that!
After a few year I decided to relaunch the site, giving a better image, more appropriate to the status of Stewart Copeland, and called Eugenio (the guy you see in the contacts); he's a magician with websites, and is a proud fan of Stewart; Stewart, Eugenio and I did some work about the image, the contents, and here we have a wonderful new version of Stewart site, now .net, not anymore.it

That's the story and I can tell this is my sort of world cup.....IT IS MY WORLD CUP!

Ciao ciao

That's wonderful, Giovanni! You've done such a great job with this site! I'm sure Stewart really appreciates all the hard work you do. I know I sure do!

Your world cup make chill man, really.

I think since then, I met you, and because of the new image of your site, that has a forum, I practiced my English writing for the very first time and still doing it.

What a wonderful birthday present to Stewart.

Cheers.

Non-native English

Postby Divemistress of the Dark on 15 Jul 2006 01:24

I think it's great y'all (as we say in the southern U.S....it's short for "you all" and means "a group of people") are making the effort to post in English and tell other fans what's happening with the man and his band.

Seems like he must be a pretty cool guy in real life to encourage you and make you the heads of his website...many musicians are kind of uptight about that sort of thing.

I live in Nashville, Tennessee in the US, where there are a lot of good musicians, too. (A lot of really famous people made records in Nashville - among them Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash - so we have a lot of recording studios and clubs.) Some of our local musicians are also really great people in real life.

(Many non-Americans can't keep track of which states are where, which is understandable...since we have FIFTY of them! Tennessee is kind of between Florida and Texas, but a little more north.)

I've had the opportunity to travel quite a bit and will vouch for the fact that there are really good folks all over the world. It's such a shame we just can't seem to see eye to eye all the time, but what can you do.

I'm new to the forum and this may have been covered already, but what are some good Italian artists you enjoy, besides Gizmo?

Thanks again for putting in so much work on the website. I like it quite a bit.

(A "divemaster" is someone who is certified to teach scuba diving. It's kind of hard...you have to pass tests and take lots of classes to get to do it. I finally got that title this year so I thought I'd show it off, with a bit of a twist. ;)

Italians

Postby giovanni on 15 Jul 2006 11:57

Well, there are a lot of Italian bands I like, and I do work with some of them in some cases, due to my job as discographer and musician.
I'm not into any band as I'm into The Police anyway.
