I really help Jeff can confirm 'the one' or even if he knows the model thats excellent, many have pondered on the great snare. I will upload some pics for you later budoman, I have some that reveal features and behind the kit but no close ups.

Chrome over brass is a timeless design. Remember all the old Leedy, Ludwig, and Gretsch snares?

There was a beat up old Pearl snare at a music shop that I used to work in around '89-'90. To this day, I wonder if it was like THE ONE.

Stewart never mentions exactly when he stumbled upon the magic snare, but if I had to guess, I'd say it was from Zenyatta onward. The sound of his snare on that album is different from the beefier sound of Outlandos and even Regatta. Plus, if you listen to Ghost, the snare sounds like a slightly enhanced version of the Zenyatta snare sound, which becomes further enhanced on Synchronicity.

I'm going to go through all my Police books this weekend and see if I can confirm this through photos.

Yeah I believe there's some truth in that as if you look at some early photo's such as in the outlandos period you can definatly see it is a Tama snare he is using

No, I have not heard from Jeff Seitz again. He wrote that my snare certainly looks like the same model and he was 99% certain, although he'd have to look at Stewart's drum to be positive. I then sent him the date of purchase, model number and some manufacturing history that most people would not know about, for whatever it was worth. I believe he was on the road at the time, but I haven't heard back yet. I'd certainly like to confirm Stewart and Jeff's thoughts and appreciation for the instrument. But Stewart has a signature snare drum made for him today, not to mention an entire monster kit, so I'd understand if the point is somewhat moot for them now.
