How did you become a Stewart fan?
- I got interested in Sting when
Dream of the Blue Turtles came out. Before that I knew of the Police and had borrowed a friend's copy of
Synchronicity once, but it hadn't really hooked me (well, I was all of maybe 11 when Sync came out, and I was all about Duran Duran at the time
)
- Since I really liked DotBT, I decided to give The Police another shot. Bought the albums and all of a sudden I was hooked! I really loved the music, and ended up getting whatever I could find related to them, including the
Around the World videotape. I'm quite certain that was when my interest began to swing from Sting more to Stewart, because Stewart was just so much fun to watch and I got a kick out of his sense of humor. I also started really listening to the drumming and realized it was unlike anything I'd ever heard before, so complex and full of little details and accents that I could just tune out everything else and just listen to the drums.
- In the years following I avidly followed all three of their solo careers, though I didn't care for
Nothing Like the Sun much at all and started losing interest in Sting's solo work after that. But I kept loving Stewart's stuff as it came out, used to stay up late to watch
The Equalizer to hear the music, all of that. I kind of fell out of touch with what they were all up to through college and graduate school, but once I finished all of that in '99 I got back into the music very seriously and was glad to be able to at last find other people on-line to share my Police/Stewart-love with!
