DM, loved it! :D -great writing, is there anything you can't do? loved the line:“Yes, I know your gong’s a big one.
Now can you please run down to the store?”
“Are your pillaging arms so tired
you can’t pick your socks up off the floor?”

tonydrums, loved your quote:

NAAAAAAH! It was NOT because of Stingooooooo!!! No No No No No!
I liked Stingo alright, yes (until Mercury falling, and I am retraining myself in liking him enough).
But.....I happened to have a green and black bass guitar in the house and wanted to play bass because I always had a megacrush on SOMEBODY who once played a HOFNER VIOLIN-SHAPED BASS, sang MUCH BETTER than Stingo and was a MUCH MORE TALENTED COMPOSER.

I think I have given you enough clues.... :D

A few years ago, I wanted to learn bass. Actually found a Hofner for a reasonable price. Never pulled the trigger though. Decided my priority should be a drum kit. Left my shitty one back in Wisconsin. Didn't take the effort to bring it out to Vegas as it was so shitty anyway. SLLLLLOOOOOOOOWLY getting Mrs. EQ to be not totally against a drumset in the house. I think what scared her was some stuff she saw pertaining to my dream kit, which I think totalled to be in excess of $20,000. But we went to a music store last weekend, and I think she lightened up when she saw that a kit could be obtained to a relatively reasonable amount.

Hofners are SWEEEEEET. Just makes you want to learn how to play I Want to Hold Your Hand.
There is no bigger gong.
TonyDrums,

Did I ever mention how much I Love That Cymbal????
Why oh Why do I decide to play bass?
I love that cymbal too. I'd like to get one if I can scrape up enough cabbage.

Oh, and I'm a drummer who is a frustrated bass player.
You want something corny?
You got it

Ouch, ouch, my sides! If that one doesn't get you a proper smiting then I don't know what will. Great way to re- surface a thread that I thought you would turn into a repressed memory.

Awwww... We're pieces of a Puzzle, TonyDrums! I am totally uncoordinated, could never play drums, although I have a good hand at congas and I played them live too.
My younger brother was a drummer and I could never, ever understand how you move your arms and your legs independently. It took him a long time to teach me how to hold the sticks correctly.

With the bass, it was love and blisters at first sight....When I learned Smoke on the Water (a rite of passage for anybody who picks a guitar or a bass) I felt such a sense of accomplishment...like when you write your first line of "a"s in kindergarten!
My greatest accomplishment was learning Type O Negative's Black no 1 line. I even added a chainstrap to my bass! I love Peter Steele because his lines are so melodic and so easy to learn.
But no, Equa, I never learn to play I want to hold your hand. Besides, I'm right-handed!

Seriously. I'm not quite sure what possessed me. I blame Animal. And Stewart. Cuz it's no fun if I don't get to blame Stewart.

BTW, yay, Mardee! Welcome back!
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

SHE'S BAAA-ACK!!

God, I've missed these little rhymes of yours, Kel! Perhaps they'll help stave off the "end-of-summer blues" I feel closing in on me? (OK, yes...an airline ticket to anywhere in Europe would work too!!)

Keep 'em comin'!!

I'm still trying to catch up on the board. I had no internet for 2? 3? weeks. I don't know if catching up is even possible on this board, have to improve my speed reading for sure.

On my avatar, yes, it's from the picture of Stewart holding wee tiny newborn Jordan. Of the whole sweetness of that picture, the part that gets me the most is his big daddy hands next to the baby's little hands. No, PF, I'm not a new mother, just a softie who was jonesing for the forum.

Thanks for the welcome back, DM. I've missed this nutty place.
