And for the less fortunate who aren't members of tp.com. here's the transcript so far:

---------------------------------

HELLO ALL STEW FANS!!

YES, i'M BACK FROM THE SIGNING!!

Ok, so saw a lot of TPT peeps...Outlandogirl, Muse, Laz, Bedilia and Dina. GREAT to see and talk to all of you!!!

I got there at 3pm...was about #10 in line VERY HOT...should of brought sunscreen.

It was a cool crowd, as we were waiting, the tour buses came by, some took pictures of us...funny.

They let us in about 7:10ish, about 15 people at a time. Stewart came right by us as we stood in line. They were VERY STRICT w/the whole signing. Only would let you sign one thing (but a couple of people got special treatment-always happens w/signings).

Oh, no pictures either. Stewart came up to the drum set up and banged it a couple of times, then he went to the table to sign.

As it was my turn, I decided to have him sign my "Everyone Stares" DVD. He was very cheerful and I got to ask him if he's (well...the Police) coming back to play in LA...he was non-commital..I kind of pouted..then he said.. "we have to come back to LA!!!" Then I told him I will see him in Mexico and he waved...some woman also thanked me and said "see you in Mexico." (Don;t know who she was...publicist???)

There were A LOT of press for the sponsors and tons of professional cameras.
Oh, we got a free copy of his new CD...pretty cool!

Overall, met some cool peeps...and Stewart was very cool!!! PLEASE COME BACK TO LA!!

Liz

-------------------------------

Hi Liz! *waves* So funny that I just left you and now here we are at our computers again. lol

I think I win the prize for the biggest dufus on earth. I get a chance to meet one of my all time favorite musical idols and what happens? I walk up to the table, Stewart is smiling at me and says "Hi". I say "Hi" back and place my Everyone Stares DVD insert on the table. They hand me a free Anthology CD and he asked me which one I want signed. I tell him I guess the DVD. He signs it and doesn't say anything to me and I reach out my hand for a handshake. He shakes my hand and I tell him, "Nice to see you". He says, "Nice to see YOU". That was it! My big moment. DOH! I'm such an idiot.

Anyway, it was still cool. Yes, the people working the event were VERY strict with us, except for the couple of special people they did extra things for. Would have been nice to get at least one other thing signed, or maybe take a pic with him, but oh well. It was great meeting new people and chatting about all things Police. Liz, you are a doll, hopefully we can meet up again sometime at another concert or event.

Oh and yes, thanks for the CHA! wristband! I am still wearing it as I type this. He didn't say anything about mine either.

Overall, a good time!

dinak

--------------------------

Funny story about Dina and I.
We had each others phone numbers and stood in line for probably an hour before I checked my messages and DUH..I had a message from her telling me that she was about 5th in line??!! I started counting then I go DINA!!
That just made me laugh! We had a cool (well not the weather...but the company) time!
We definitely have to meet up for future concerts....I am WILLING the Police to get their show on the road to LA (or anywhere in SO cal).
Liz

------------------------------

Well now I can say I "met" Stewart Copeland. Liz and Dina are right about how strict everyone was at the signing. It reminded me of the "Soup Nazi" episode of Seinfeld. As we were "herded" up the stairs, 20 people at a time, we kept getting told we could "only have one item signed and to have it out". By the time I got to Stewart I felt like Kramer in front of the soup guy. I put on my best smile, said "hi Stewart my name is Christine, asked him if he was having as much fun as we fans were having, he answered back yes but there were some clinkers early on.' told him "yes I know. He asked me how I knew and I told him I had seen the shows in Vancouver. He just laughed. Then the "soup nazi" yelled next! LOL
It was so good to see Liz again and to meet some new peeps (Laz, Dina, Musigra, and Outlando Girl (Maggie).

man, you guys were so lucky. I'm still bummed I couldn't be there, but I loved reading your reports!

can anyone tell me who these people were who supposedly received "special treatment"? I read that some people got a little extra time and was just wondering who they were and why, if you know.
Apart from sitting down at the kit and stepping on the kick drum and hi-hat pedals quickly, Stewart did in fact NOT play anything on the drum set at all. It ended up being set up purely for photo op type stuff.
Sounds about right for a signing event. Nice that it was the blue sparkly kit.
as well his (rather buxom) red-head publicist, who I'm beginning to be strangely attracted to...
I can't be the only one who wants to hear more about the redhead . . .

Thanks for the reports, folks.

Special treatment: I'm sure Liz can elaborate, but I heard that one guy got 5 or 6 things signed and got a pic with Stew becuase he'd come from a long way way. I still don't think that beats Irishrose DRIVING from Alb!!!! Crazy.

I was also hoping to see/hear Stew play up close, that's why I went. Since I've already met him and gotten a pic and autograph in the past, I wasn't as interested in that. If I had known that's all it would be, I probably wouldn't have taken the time off work and driven almost 4 hours each way. But, it was what it was. I had a good time talking to people in line.

I was #114 in line I think and was the second to the last person to get the free CD. There were at LEAST 100 people in line behind me, so it was a good turn out.

I told Stew that I got to sing with the band at the soundcheck in Dallas and how cool that was and thanked him for picking me out of the group to sing. I also told him I was excited to get the CD because I couldn't find it in the stores near my small town. Prety brief, and yes, they were rushing people through. He was pleasant, as usual, but there was hardly enough time for more than a few sentences.

Was great to meet Fallout Mike.

Just as a FYI - gettyimages.com has 60 photos from the signing up, including one where you can see Irish Rose's poster pretty well (even lying flat on the signing table.

WireImage has 18 photos as well (with no nasty watermarks to boot.)

Thank you guys! Awesome that the attendance was good by all means.
You were all rewarded for your efforts, and I am so glad that all of you got a chance to get to meet and greet the Man.
It was, like I expected, no playing, no time for him to talk about the anthology, nazi-like security (I think I had mentioned that when I went to Courtney Love's Dirty Blonde signing there was NO way you could take pictures or spend more than 30 seconds to the table, but she was supercool and very nice, playing us a tape of her next album and actually addressing the people in line often), so I imagine that this is what you need to get an event like this marching and accident-free. Security is extremely important and there are nutters (real ones, not SC nutters) around.

All in all, I'd say that at a concert you don't get to actually meet him and talk to him, but you hear him play! If you have had both experiences, what was the best?

About the buxom red press agent...Well, it seems that being a redhead is a requirement around Stewart...It must be really difficult being Fiona indeed, or any rock wife for that. But put yourself in a musician's place, where there are adoring fans all around who will do anything for 5 seconds with you....How would that feel? And how steely must your willpower be to be a good partner? Meditate, people, meditate.

Although does anyone else feel like SC (in the picture in Kalypso's new avatar) should be holding a pack of Mento's?

ETA: Ugh. I edited a minute ago, screwed up, and then forgot what I should have written. What I tried to say was, Kalypso, that yellowing glow is just the lighting. Though keep in mind his hair isn't pure white/grey/silver/whatever either.

Very nice! I'm so happy for those who were able to go and meet him. Sorry to hear it was a soup nazi line but maybe that makes it easier in the end...no one feels bad because someone else got more time, etc.

A friend of mine affectionately refers to it as "confetti-colored", which definitely seems to fit. :D
