"The venue, OH MY GOD. I had never seen a show at the Red Rocks before, what a place to see a show. If you have never been, you need to. I will go back everytime for an outside show for a band I like. The scenery, the weather, and the positive vibe from that place is just wonderfull. It seems as if the band fed off of the vibe there, like I'd never seen before. Find a band you like (too small for The Police to play) and just GO."

Red Rocks is magical. And it's a shame it's too small for The Police (Sting's played there, it was one of the best shows I've ever seen). It has a vibe like no place else. I have no doubt that Rush made the most of it. I'm glad you had a great experience.

Awesome! I've read reviews that say Geddy's voice is actually better than it has been in years- any truth to that?

I love the humor in the shows. I mean shit, when you've been playing the same songs for 35 years wtf else are you gonna do to liven up the stage?! The video's last tour were great, can't wait to see what's coming for me on Tuesday!

I' got a ticket for my next door neighbor/fellow drummer. He last saw RUSH back in 76 when his dorm mate dragged him to a show- 1st time seeing them and been a fan ever since, but hasn't seen a show since for many unforseen reasons. Can't wait to be with him for it- gonna be a blast!

His voice was great, I think I heard only one off key moment. You are in for a great time Spec A!. I will tell you to brush up on the new album, they played quite a few from it. The new stuff kicked ass live, the older material was great of course and the selections of songs were great. Use this thread to report back about your experience. Just knowing the thread will pop again will make Dirty crazy. Ha-ha. Have a great time.

Erm, hate to disappoint you, AZ, but Dirty couldn't actually give a shit. Just because I dislike Rush doesn't mean I'm bothered that other people like them.

However, I am quite glad to hear that you and your son had a great time. And Red Rocks is indeed supposed to be a phenomenal venue.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

Sounds like it was quite a spectacle, glad you made it. Vancouver has been snubbed the last couple of tours by Rush. Last one I saw was the Vapour Trails tour and it was awesome. Peart seems to be showing more and more of a personal side now (possibly due to his unbelievable personal loses) than those of years past. I'm sure your son (and you) will be even more inspired now that you have both witnessed a living legendary drummer :D

DirtyMartini, I was just kidding around. You sound pissed, and if you are I'm sorry. I was just running with the joke, if I took it too far, then again I'm sorry. I don't know if you read my half ass review but I acknowledged one of your opinions about N.P. Hope this makes sense.

Nah, s'all good -- not pissed. Just didn't want you to think that I felt ill will toward Rush fans in some way or something. I'm glad you guys had a good time, and your review was far from half-assed! Give yourself credit for having a whole ass, man! xo

LMAO. Somehow I knew you would be the first to respond to my new avatar. You can tell how excited MY SON was to have his picture taken with the old man. This is the first time I've ever posted a picture of myself on a forum, so have mercy please. My son will love your response though.

Well, we peaked at 101, heat index of 108 yesterday, and I think by the time the show ended at 11pm it was maybe 93degrees. And humid. But the crowd still had an awesome time and it was packed!

Honestly I have mixed feelings. The show was great- the humor was great, and seeing a band play two 80 min sets of music was great. I wasn't crazy about them playing 2/3rds of the new album which I'm not into as much, but I loved the new instrumentals, the pyrotechnics, Neil's re worked solo and new efx sounds on the electronic kit were cool and a refreshing change! And Alex's 12 string solo piece he played right after Neil's solo was absolutely beautiful. But it kinda dragged for me. Not sure if it was the slow start- Limelight was definitely played slower, or just the opressing heat, but there just wasn't the excitement there that I've felt the last 4 times I saw them. But seeing Witchhunt live was sweet!

I think I am totally spoiled now after seeing The Police. Not sure if anything will meet that feeling again. I'm seeing DMB on 9/21 with the wife ("our band") and I know that'll be a great time for personal reasons. I'll let you all know how I feel after that.

Yeah, I think part of my excitement was having my son there and the show being at the Red Rocks. By the time the show finished it was in the sixty degree mark, so the weather for us was great. I think most fans have not liked how much of the new album they are playing live. It took a while for me to get into it but now I really like it, except for Spindrift. Thanks for checking back and have fun at D.M.B.

Thanks for the report, AZ! Glad you had a good time. I can't wait. I'm glad to hear they're playing lots of stuff from the new album. I personally love it. There isn't one song that doesn't connect with me emotionally and the music is the perfect balance between fresh and familiar.

P.S. Whaddya mean you don't care for "Spindrift?" Duuude!!!
