Well I don't like to offend Chilean neighbourgs but "PISCO" an alcoholic liquor made by grapes are 100% peruvian... "Pisco Sour" is a cocktail made with "PISCO" and It was invented by a bartender of Lima ( from old "Maury" Hotel ) in honor of Ernest Heminghway who usually have memorable drunks with "Pisco" so this bartender invented "Pisco Sour" ... Ernest Heminghway stayed more part of time in the north beaches of PERU ... in a fishermen port where he fished Merlins and inspired in a way of his novel 'The man and the sea'

"Pisco" liquor is native from PERU in the region of "Ica" in the ancient town of "Pisco"... Chileans invented a new city who called Pisco and made a similar liquor like peruvian "Pisco" but isn't the same... in some way they patented worldwide...in a way they appropiate our liquor worldwide... but the best "Pisco"is from PERU...all medals from Europe were won by Peruvian "Pisco"... our "Pisco"is made 100% by grapes..not the same as Chilean "Pisco"thats the main difference... and experts of liquor knows it.

Yep... Town of Pisco in Peru was founded in the spanish conquer time derived from a pre- Incas language... and Pisco liquor was invented in Peru at the viceroyalty era of Peru...

well but you know "Rum", "Whisky" or "Vodka" were made in different sides of the world

ohhh yeah I suggested Dive and her friends to taste "Chicha Morada" ( by the way you write it well ) It's like a juice made by "Purple Corn" ( Yeah in Peru we have around hundred different varaieties of corn one of these is¨"Purple Corn" ) isn't an alcoholic beverage but "Inca's" used one "White Chicha" who it's an alcoholic variation and usually used in ceremonies and native people like to drink it on festivities... "Chicha Morada" ( the purple one ) is so popular and was served or offered from popular restaurants till reputated luxury restaurants...

It is *a*w*e*s*o*m*e. It tastes a little bit like wine with nutmeg and cinnamon in it, only sweeter. I had another purple corn dish at lunch today, sort of a jelly sauce with dates in it. Also just fabulous.

I am going to be extra-specially nice to Jose in the high hopes that he will send me some recipes. Seriously, the food we have eaten here has been absolutely terrific. And I am now the envy of my friends and my husband for having a very cool built-in friend in a city we are visiting for the first time. *Again*, since I already got squired about London by the lovely Hannaha earlier this year.

What a special place this website is. I am so reminded of it all the time.

Today I took a tour down the Amazon (!) in a flat bottomed boat and visited an Indian tribe living in some similar circumstances as their ancestors have for hundreds of years...guess what song I couldn't get out of my head...well, it's not a subject we rarely mention, around here anyway.

I've heard about four Police songs on the radio since I've been here, more than about any other rock band, so Jose is not kidding when he says Peruvians have great taste in music! (There's a lot of good Peruvian music here too, which also is more evidence in this direction.)

I'm going to upload photos as soon as I can (of us looking at Police CDs, among other things), but I'm still on a fairly slow Internet connection, so it will most likely be when I get home in a few more days. Jose, I loved the disc you gave me. More in a bit, gotta go eat dinner and I am starved!

p.s. We caught and ate piranha for lunch, and it was delicious. I am 100% serious. What a place this is....

Ohh woow so you visited some amazon tribes!! Perhaps were "Ashaninkas" or "Shipibos" ? I like "Shipibos" textil and art-craft designs ... Did you experienced with "Ayahuasca" ? ( The same Sting experienced in the brazilian Amazon region )

I mentioned you about "Masato" that beverage made by chewing "Yuca" ... perhaps that tribe served you one.... well some tribes nowadays mixing the "Yuca" without chewing it... so not trouble well its a great culinary adventure ... I am a beat jealous with you, because I am peruvian and never visited an Amazonic tribe...

I didn't mentioned you before exist a lodge at the top of the amazon peruvian rainforest ( yeah not far away from "Iquitos" ) I mean are wooden bungalows with all kind of comodities It was builded at the top of the threes and are connected it between wooden bridges and you will meet there with friendly monkeys, parrots, squirls, and many other birds and native animals from the rainforest... I think it is unbelievable!!!

Don't forget your "Turtle Soup" for having dreams with the blue ones hehehehe!! 8)

I think I may be in that lodge, Jose...our group went for the "gringo" option, which is the only building in the complex with air conditioning (some people are sleeping in tents, it's not hot here at night, I'm a bit envious)...so we're a little ways from the treetop bridge. Our friend Dan, the older gentleman from dinner, went on the bridge today though and loved it.

You really need to come out here, you know. The tribe we saw was the Yaguas...we even got a curare poison-dart primer. I'll post photos soon. We didn't get to try any of the native food you told us about, but we've had some really terrific fish meals, which makes sense, since we're about ten meters from the Amazon.

We got to see the river dolphins, too. Amazing. We are going out to do a moth tour after dinner - it was worth coming here just to see the butterflies, one of which is bigger than my husband's hand and brilliant blue. And have I told you about the parrots...?

I am peruvian and never visited "Iquitos", watching the "Pink"dolphins of the amazon river or eating "Piranhas" you are a lucky girl 8)

The parrots are nice with terrific colors Its called "Guacamayos" ... Hope you heard "Manguare" ( Its a percussion instrument made by a caved wood and amazonic tribes used it for comunicate each one of them from km of distance...It have a nice sound... Hope Stewart someday play one of It )

Well as you see in my country we have all of any tourist wants... spectacular sightseeings, different cultures and societies, outstanding gastronommy, different natural resources and environment, history, cool people, rainforest, oasis, desserts, andean mountains, beaches, western and ancient way of life, beauty animals... What more you need??? UFO's? Yeah we have a lot surfing the sky of Peru :lol:
