I have a creeping suspicion that Rufus Scrimgeour is Regulus Black in disguise. *shrug* It's a long shot.
hummmm.... you know, that sounds like something she would dream up! interesting theory mardee. can't wait to see if you are correct! they never said how regulus died as far as i can remember. very interesting... he would certainly be a help to harry. i actually just read HBP again, so i'm ready for the last one. it's all fresh right now.

I got halfway thru HBP on a re-read. Might bring it along and try to finish on the way to Cleveland. There's alot I've forgotten. Neville might definitely be a candidate for getting the ax. Or, it might be a Weasley. I'd guess Charlie. The family would be devastated but he's not so crucial to the plot.

It is, isn't it.

It's in the tube sock avatar thread, it's Tobey Maguire.

I know it's just a story and all, but I'd cry if Harry died.

he can't die. there would be a worldwide revolt. there are too many clues that he lives in the books. i would say with 98% certainty that he doesn't die.

mrs. G..... isn't that jake gyllenhaal on your avatar?

A friend sent it to me saying it was Jake, my sis corrected insisting it was Tobey, I thought it was Jake aswell (prob is). Never paid attention to either, but the pic is hot.

There are allot of hints that he will die, aswell. She's started to point out that

I haven't read past book 1, so I can't speak to content -- but just from a writing standpoint, if Harry doesn't die (or magically disappear, head to the Grey Havens, whatever death-like equivalent), then Rowling royally wimped out.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

Killing him off would be a wimp out, it would at least partially be so no one would nag her to write another book.

I'm pretty sure it's Jake. Tobey's a weinie. He wouldn't, um...distract me.

I dunno about killing Harry. I think she'd probably get death threats and mass hysteria would ensue. I know I'd be speechless.

it's jake for sure... and he is DAMN distracting!

we could go back and forth about the death thing all week until the book comes out, so i guess we'll just have to wait and see.

i just know that if she kills him, i'll be pretty damn upset.

evil can't win. we are talking about a children's book series here...

Well, it started as a children's book series. Is it really that now?

Nah, people will nag her no matter what. Look at The Police for the last 20 years.

But if after all this (again, just in terms of writing and narrative) if she has Harry live happily ever after, it'll be pretty weak.

I'm going to vote self-sacrifice.
