i totally think that they could pull off another reggae type album... i think that sting has shown that he is a versatile artist and they are older now - they are not the same people they were in 80-83. they are successful without the police. if they make it - i will be happy & if they don't, i'll be satisfied anyway. i'm still just really glad that i will finally see my favorite band live. it's still a dream come true for me.

i agree about oysterhead though... i am a big les fan too, so another album from them would be ideal for me. i caught on too late and didn't see them live either!

I would welcome another album. Once this tour is over, the boys will be super-tight and I'm sure that Sting has a few ideas up his sleeve. I would like to see it recorded with no outside producer to meddle. Just the three of them like the current tour.

Yes, Tonydrums. I'm with you on this one. I mean, after this tour, they are free to do whatever they want. They have the dough, they aren't pressed for time.

This time around (ha) they can just enjoy the process without the suits standing over them waiting for the finished product. Which is not to say that pressure isn't sometimes a good thing to have, but I think this will be the most fun they've had in their lives. I really do. I can feel it in me bones. 8)

I would LOVE to hear a new Police album. YES YES YES, A MILLION TIMES YES!!!!

Stingified? One could argue that Ghost and Synch were stingified albums...
Me still likey!

I could see that a new album would probably be a cool hybrid of the old Regatta era sound and a modern sound. Would be a wonderful experiment, just keep Stew and Sting away from the board so they can;t record over the other's parts!

Stingified or not, I definitely would want a new album. I love this group, always have, always will, no matter what sort of evolution they've gone through over 30 years.

Count me as one who would LOVE to see it.

Sure I would love one, and hope they would do one...
I'd love a studio album because for me no live album beats Hatfield Polytechnic...maybe a studio album with a live bonus (NO Roxanne please?)
But would it be another Chinese Democracy at this point? Arguing non-stop? Adding a string section or a brass section (Sting), have a STOP KANYE WEST sign on the cover?
I wish Stewart could put out an album of his derangements. That would make me completely happy.

I would LOVE another Oysterhead album and tour, hint, hint.[/quote]

Ahem! Oysterhead Yeah!
Bonnaroo Yeah!
Les Claypool Yeah!

But...does Stew want that? I heard something about wanting to go home to compose a symphony.

I think they should do what they want to do. Not what we want them to do. I see this tour as closure for them and the fans. The end of a novel that left us hanging.

Stewart seems to relish his "role" as a regular suburban father and a composer. This tour is taking him away from his family for a year as it is.

If they put out a new album people would probably expect them to tour again. Would they want to? However, I wouldn't mind if there was a live album of the tour. They could add a couple of (hinted at) new songs to it as a bonus. No additional touring would be necessary.

I'd love to hear more Oysterhead and Gizmo. :D

Do what feels right fellas!
Stewart and Stanley together again!! YO!

If a new Police album of original music came out, I would certainly buy it.

The one thing I *wouldn't* have under any circumstances are expectations that a) I'd immediately love the album, or b) that it would sound much like the Police albums I did love, even if I enjoyed it in a different way.

I won't be disappointed if they don't. I will be intrigued if they do. I guess I'll cross that bridge if I come to it... which (IMHO) I don't think I will. As in, I don't see a new album. But that's just my opinion... much stranger things have happened.

Everything the weasel with the sexy kneecaps just said.

I'd buy it, and I wouldn't know what to expect, but I'd certainly enjoy exploring it.
