COUNTDOWN TO DALLAS!!!

Postby michelle on 21 Jun 2007 22:23
Michelle - How many tickets would you need for the 26th show? I've had some people back out and now I have 4 (maybe only 3) seats (they are actually all together) at the $90 price level.
Hey there,
Does this board have a pm system? I'd probably be scolded heavily if I bought 3 more tix at that level for the kids (husband's had enough of the outpour of cash in the past few months) but if you had 4 and would be interested in trading my floor seat (sob, sob) for partial payment on them, that could work. At least I'd only have to hide a little more outgoing cash.

If it doesn't work for me, let me know what you've got and where, I've met a couple of people in Austin that wanted me to let them know if spares came up...
thanks,
michelle
hahahah, Conroy :) Well, it's impossible to believe that Dallas will have only been one month since Vancouver, that alone I can't get past...My house looks lik I've neglected it for a month, surely <grin>

Michelle, hope things work out so you all get to have a great time!
Thanks!
Lol.. yeah, this has been such a whirlwind! I feel bad, I've neglected so much around here, but we only have a year, right? The laundry and stuff to do will still be here.
Conroy! Just wait, the difference from Vancouver to Phoenix was vast, and I'm wondering if I'll notice a difference in the week that passes between Phx and Dallas.
The thing that bums me out is my last show is Fenway. I'm thinking now, that was NOT the thing to do. I really wanted to end in a smaller inside arena w/a great seat. Sigh, hope legs three comes back to TX or I could even swing N/S Carolina!

Haw!! I resemble that remark.

My credit-card bill from Feb./March was breathtaking. My poor accountant...

Oh, I don't want to think about my credit card debt right now. Of course it's going to be worth it all, but it was a bit of a shock to see those charges rolling in. Of course, it did get my butt in gear to get back to running a bunch of ebay auctions to help subsidize the concert tickets, and clear out more useless "stuff" from the house!

Don't use mapquest for directions, you'll be lost enough as it is (everyone I know has gotten seriously lost their first time there). If you get really lost, ask one of the luxury hotels, they're the best at directions.

And no walking around down town Dallas, you hear me?

What's wrong with walking around downtown Dallas? I'm a big boy. I can take care of myself.

The real question is, where can I get some great bbq.

I went out to Memphis this weekend for the 50th anniversary of Stax Records (which is rejiggered and releasing new albums these days) and had a plate of great 'cue. I hear there's some joint called Javier's in Dallas we should check out.

I'm leaving Monday too, but I have houseguests, so I haven't even thought about packing. I'll probably sling something in a bag tomorrow night. What to wear to the concert? I'm thinking hard-toed shoes, since I'll be down on the floor. Other that that, probably as little as possible, since it'll be hotter than hell. And no, I don't plan to post photos in my avatar shot. ;)

Ooooo, I know you've been really busy but how was the Staxx gig?? I have an all day showdown tomorrow with something due before departure but, as usual, I'll check in here every so often as my mind wanders...which is often <grin>

Stax was *a*w*e*s*o*m*e. Highlight of the show was probably Isaac Hayes, not surprisingly, but Booker T and the MG's still sound just amazing. Very powerful, not tinkly and poppy like on some of the records. A couple of the newer artists (Angie Stone, Mbutu) were great, also. Two of Otis Redding's sons showed up and covered a couple of his tunes as well.

There'll probably be a stream here at some point: http://www.stax50.com

The Gypsy Tea Room is the best place to see live music, Deep Ellum Blues is cool too. But if you'r in the mood for a club check out The Lizard Lounge.

BBQ? Baker's Ribs.

Crime. North down town isn't that bad, but south down town is more crime riden... mostly at night. Not really a reason to avoid the area completly, you'd miss out if you did... just be careful. If you go to south Dallas, best not to wear red or blue... Do avoid South Dallas at night, and in Deep Ellum park in a well lit area. Ehh it's a rental right? Just keep your valuables with you. And watch out for stray dogs... don't hit the poor doggies! Just ummm be aware of your suroundings.

Hiya Folks!
I'm down here in Austin and am sick about being only 3 hours away and not seeing the guys in Dallas. I am seriously thinking about taking a wild and crazy road trip up and seeing what tickets I can get from folks standing around. If you were doing this would you do it for night one or night two?
If I don't make it, CHEERS!

There are still plenty of tix on Ebay and Stubhub, Jenny....

I'm not sure what all we'll have time to do besides going to see The Police. I'm going to try to hit the Dallas School Book Repository museum and the art museum....are there any don't-miss record stores, or cool clothing stores?
