Yes,
I am one of the 190,
as are countless others who never post a gosh darn thing in this world,
but I'm gonna do it now!
Why?
Simple, cuz over the last 25 plus years, life has gotten anything but.
and
2, cuz I still love the Police!
Hear me out...
1980- I'm 13 years old, just right to be an impressionable young lad, from the privileged OC no less,
and there's these new things called VIDEOS!
as I sit there in my home with the latest sensation-Cable TV
I get the first glimpses of Stewart, Sting and Andy- the dark, foreboding, yet fun
Don't Stand So Close To Me! (I'm hooked!) oh, by the way Policemen, dont change a thing, regardless of the critiques, you sirs, are men, and in -86, I bought the other version 2
Ah, the 80's a magical, seemingly innocent time, the era of Reagan, of the feel good America! of Wham! and
yet the thing that drove me to distraction, in my uncertain, heartbreakin' yet wonderful teen angst filled years was the obsessive, propulsive(bet you didn't know Stewie) Police songs
You were the greatest band, my favorites, I bought all the memorabilia, the beach towel, the promo singles, the LPs, the buttons,
all to get me out of my miserable OC existence to something closer to Nirvana
song after song
De Doo Doo Doo
Spirits
Magic
Journey
Invisible Sun
Every Breath
especially King of Pain
Sync 2
Wrapped Around Your Finger
Andy was brilliant, Stewart was incredible, Sting was the best...
I had no idea that it would all end too soon, and you all had your own private battles,
but I bought Dream of the Turtles, XYZ, The Rhythmatist,
seein' you all here and there, and lovin' all of you the more, for continuing through the down time,
even through all the pain!
but now, years down the line, it makes me realize that we don't pick our lives, that reality rules, and
Truth Hits Everybody
and yet, to this day, and I know I'm not alone, you 3 men, all brilliant, all talented, all wonderfully gifted, shine to us all- the ones who believed in you all along
I know this is way past bordering on cheese but I hope you get it, cuz I sure did, ages ago, I love your art, your resilience in the face of everything
and I can't wait to finally see you all doing that voodoo that you do so well at Dodger Stadium!
Thank you all
for years of bliss, better than the best therapy!
P.S. My wife saw the Yahoo Copeland post and feared the worst,
they're fighting again,
I said, aww that's the Police, don't worry, it's because they love the music and fans!
Rock on Brothers!
