What's your favourite Police song?

Postby PhilippeC on 20 Apr 2007 13:18
Than you should listen to the original version on their first recordings. strontuim 90, when henery played with the trio. it is a much better recording in my opinion!!!YO!!! 8)
I don't think Henry ever played with Strontium 90.

My favorite Police song? Uh... it depends of the day! OK, let's say today it's "Every little thing she does is magic". But tomorrow it can be "Does everyone stare", "Bring on the night", "Darkness" or "Rehumanize yourself" (and I forget "Message in a bottle", "Synchronicity I", "Invisible Sun", etc.)...

Mmm, is very hard to choose one, but if I have to do it, I choose:

-Can't Stand Losing You mixed with Regatta De Blanc...(live)

Today, it's "Truth Hits Everybody," studio version. It's just so in-your-face.

There will always be a soft spot for "Message" (studio). It was the first Police tune I ever heard. Every time I hear it, I'm 14.

My favourite song ever.... (not just Police) is Bring on the night..... It has to be played in the dark very loudly with the bass turned up so high the windows rattle.....
I just love everything about it......

However having said that I really like any of stewarts tracks on all the albums......

My favourite Police video is De do....

I know Stewart doesn't like it... at least he's quoted in an interview....
But he features loads in it which is always a good thing...

Ever since the Rehearsal, I cannot get "Voices Inside My Head" out of mine...it's like almost every day it pops in there...I have to say that I have had each of the albums besides Zenyatta {even though I'm virtually obsessed with Driven to Tears, esp. live} as my favorite at different times of my life but right now, for the first time, I really really dig Zenyatta like I never have before :)

There are so many of the songs that are great aren't there....?
Depends what mood I'm in.
If I want a boogie then there's 'Every little thing....'
If I'm in a Stewart mood (which is like always.....) then any of his but I really like 'Does everyone stare' and 'Darkness' or of course his mate KK!
But all The Police albums are in my car doing a loop and I just cannot get enough of them.....

It feels like seeing your first love again and getting all those feelings back again......

FANTASTIC!!!

I've got to go with Next To You. I can't get enough of it, especially the steam rollin' live version off my old picture disk LP. Shadows In The Rain live is a keeper too followed by...aw shit I can't come up with a definitive favourite; most all of their songs rock...undisputedly! 8) :!: 8)

One is not easy. I can only list the ones that are at the top:

- Roxanne
- Can't Stand Losing You/Regatta De Blanc (in its live form, or Regatta by itself as a studio track)
- Walking on the Moon
- The Other Way of Stopping
- Darkness
- Miss Gradenko

Partial:

- Don't Stand So Close to Me...I've never been able to decide how I feel about the lyrics, but the intro is one of the coolest things ever put on record, and the rest of the song is excellent as well.

My fave is Bring on the Night. Listening to it at twilight sends shivers down my spine. There’s something about that song that makes me feel so good. I know the sun is setting but there’s a night full of adventure ahead of me….

With regard to videos I think for me it’s got to be So Lonely … it’s got walkie talkies, Stewart banging his sticks on anything and everything & a big fish. Wacky but cool!
It would be ok on any other day!

No way, no how can I pick one song.

Videos, though? Nothing will ever beat "Every Little Thing." Stewart. Those hats. The mixing board. The locals hanging out on the back of the truck...

ooh I forgot to mention the bit in the So Lonely video where Stewart smiles at Sting. It melts me every time! So sweet... and did I mention it's got walkie talkies!
