I love my snares.

I have recently got an ahead 13x whatever...its fantastic.
also use a 10x 3 ( or something) on my left.

I noticed recently that Brady make 8" diameter snares mmmmmm

Yeah the Stewart Snare is great. I saw in this thread someone saying that it isn't worth the money.... Don't let anyone tell you that it isn't worth it. A brass shelled snare with a die cast hoop for 300 bucks is a steal! Whoever told you that it was a ripoff doesn't know what they are talking about....

I'm not talking about the rototoms. I did mean the rotosound. It is the spinning Paiste percussion instrument you see him playing during "walking in your footsteps" on the Synchronicity DVD. That whole percussion set up was so cool.

Looks like he went there for the Gizmo bass drum skin as well....keep scrolling down...I'll have to get one of those custom jobs the next time my band tours. That's just too cool!!

Good eye, you two, on the custom heads! My poor hubby is sending me all over this earth to see the Police so I'm not asking for a thing this year LOL...so perhaps I'll start hinting about the snare for 2008 <mischievious grin> I'm selling my vintage clothing collection for new cymbals as it is LOL...

I never had one but since I have almost everything else...probably one day! HA!

is that thing tuneable, I thought it was one note.

Thanks for the info on the mystery snare.

those little paiste 2002 bells are great...i have an 8" one and it cutd through anything.
They also do things called accent cymbals in a 6" and even a 4"( which is the cutest thing)

They are also very much a bell like sound....oh yeas i just remebered that if you put two of them together like some hi hats you can get the sound from the start of the second track on the rumblefish soundtrack (sorry..forgot the name).
The other great thing about the accent cymbals is that they are really cheap.
Id go for the 6" rather than the 4"

I have one of the 6" ones- it's labeled a "cup chime". It almost cuts as much as my 9" Zilbel, but the sound on the Paiste is so much sweeter and prettier.

Plus it was only like $30!!!

To see 'em in action, check out the Oysterhead video ("Shadow of a Man") in the Links section. It's damn dark for the most part, but you can catch a view of them in some shots -- and they sound fabulous.

Hi fellow drummers; I've seen Oysterhead when they were in town in 2001. Stewart, Trey and Les sounded so intersting together. Stewart had the percussion rack and all sorts of cool things going on up on that stage. I have one of these Paiste rotosound gadgets that is essentially an 8" diameter metal disk mounted within a holder that spins when struck by a mallet to create a long lasting sound that is further enhanced by something called the "leslie" effect (?). Since my departure from being in a band, I no longer use any of this stuff but it makes for a good conversation piece in my living room. Paiste sure makes some cool stuff for all of us drum nerds!
