I wish The Police would tour small clubs

Postby cpriddims on 06 Feb 2007 02:51

How about doing a few small venues under a code name band that only we 'forumers' know about? That way, if we do get the shaft on the big show tickets, we can at least have first access to an exciting intimate show setting with them like back in the day. There are plenty of places here in Atlanta to play!
Bonnaroo, Miami (front row), Tampa, Atlanta, SAVANNAH!

I wonder how much does a ticket to see The Police in a small club does cost?

Who knows?

It would be so much cooler to see them in that environment, but I'm already paranoid on not being able to get tickets.... it would be insane with a small venue!

We can share our paranoid Mrs. Gradenko.

:?

Anyway, to give a low stress,

How do you feel seeing you husband (Mister Gradenko) here again?

Do you still loving him?

I'd say a ticket to the see the band in a small club would be at least 5, 000.

Ouch

I have to work harder.

But for sure, if this will happen, I'll be there

Nope, sorry Mr. G... have someone else.

5 Grand? Ouch! I can't afford that.... I'm saving for school. Ok no small venues for them, wouldn't matter if I didn't get to go.

Yes, small clubs would be awesome! In that case I would pay the price.

Even if I'm a fan, I won't pay much more than 100 Euros if in a stadium. Not because it's a too much high price, but because I think this tickets price politic is unfair and unjustified. I understand paying about 150 Euros or more for a venue in a small club with some confort. But not for a stadium that can't give the minimum of confort and where you aren't sure to see the guys, except on the screens! In that case I prefer buying the DVD after the tour: good image quality (I hope) and good confort at home! ;)

Hey PhilippeC, I am with you on this one. We are not stupid to the point we would pay a huge money to go (at our ages) to a stadium. By the way do you know we are neighbours?

GIovanni, I agree it would be better in small places!! I wish they would loose some of their fame to make it more possible!!

Xyzman (welcome), yes, I think they should have decided to change their name! That would have been courage.

I think all this starts to look like a big “coup”. An amazing tour for a huge Money. No will to go on together, but just a sort of “last good by”. No chemistry this time, only well known & reheated resets. Not a new start, but the evidence, they belong to the 80’s. The myth will be over now. The Police = just a band like any other.

Did we wait 20 years to get this: entertainment in Stadiums !!! The Police was about music, a great inspiration to a lot of artists. I hope they will surprise us with more than JUST A TOUR!!

Yeah, at around 40 we have to save the money to pay bills monthly, to feed the kids, to buy gifts to our beloved women... Well, it's a bit late for me also to spend the money like this. ;)

Off topic: No, I didn't know. I live to about 5 km to Aix, in Venelles. Where are you from? You can send a PM, so we won't bother the others about our beautiful region! re- ;)

At this point, if they're at Bonnaroo, I think the 1,000 dollars for the VIP tickets will be worth it. Especially if the band plays as long as Radiohead did. (2.5 hours)

For their tour, even if I did try and get a semblance of ground floor, it'd be double that most likely.

By the way, wow, this board has been flooded with posts! The boys are back in town!

I'll pay whatever price I have to, to see the guys. However many times as I can afford. Stadium OR club.

I've just been waiting too long and regretting never getting the chance before to complain too much about the cost, which I assume will be huge but that's the way of things these days. I don't like it, but that's the name of the game these days. You only live once, after all.

A couple smaller venue shows would certainly be nice, like at the Borgata in Atlantic City, maybe. I know the Who did a night there this year in the middle of their stadium tour, and I saw the Foo Fighters there once and it was terrific seeing them in a room with a few thousand instead of tens of thousands.

And if the ticket prices are in the $150-200 range, well, at least it might not sell out as quickly as some folks are paranoid it will. I was so upset when I thought I'd missed the window to get Who tickets last year by being a day late, but found there were still amazing seats right near the stage and for me it was well worth the cost of the ticket.

Also, not all stadiums and cities are the same. Stadium crowds in Philly are often really cool--I encourage you all to come join me here for any shows to see what I'm talking about! We can be rowdy but we're also big music lovers in this city. In contrast, I'll be *real* hesitant about going to any shows at either Madison Square Garden or Giants Stadium...no offence to the New Yorkers/New Jersey folks here but I've had nothing but dreadful experiences with the stadium crowds there. Too many folks just there to get stoned or drunk.

I'd kill to travel to Italy to see a show there as well...I saw Dave Gilmour in Florence last summer and that was the most respectful, music-loving crowd I've ever enjoyed at an open-air venue.

I think you're right, sockii. I'd love to see nearly any band in Australia...actually got hassled there once by a fellow crowd member at a Paul Kelly show for not dancing enough. ;)

I'll agree the bane of the concert experience is people who are just there to get drunk or high, too. People are usually pretty civilized in this part of the world, but that's one thing that's really bad hereabouts. I don't have a problem with what other folks want to do, unless they start hollering inane things to their friends (standing up repeatedly so they can do same, along with that "idiot wave" drunks often do), singing along so loudly with lyrics that you can't hear the band, or stumbling and falling on you/throwing up on you (all of which I've had happen in the last six months or so at concerts...) This is made much worse by the seating config at some arenas. I got floor seating for the Dixie Chicks at our local entertainment center/airport hangar, and the seats were crammed so close together on the floor that you literally could not move to take off your coat, put down a drink, etc.

I still think smaller cities might be a good bet, and I bet Pittsburgh is great. I've been there a couple of times, nice city. I'm thinking about Indianapolis, Columbus or Kansas City, in the U.S. There'll be less demand for tickets and hotel rooms are less expensive. I have no clue what comparable cities those might be in the U.K., though. I do have to say that if I find out they'll play a 3,000 to 5,000 seat club, anywhere in the U.S., and I have a ghost of a chance to get tickets, I am there, and I'll be prepared to pay a premium.

I think I'm offended! lol....just kidding, but as a NJ/NY guy, who actually works at the Meadowlands and the Garden for sports journalism, I have found few problems here...and that goes for concerts. I could make a comment about Philly sports fans...but I know you're good people Sockii :-)

Hey, I'll be in Italy in May/June...Florence included. Any suggestions?

for the fans smaller clubs or arenas would be better as fan-club members and real fans of the band and individual artists, as you are sure of getting a seat close by, at a stadium gig there is no gaurantee of being anywhere near the stage and if you do there is no moving from this position all day. if only a stadium tour perhaps a fan club enclosure at the front of the stage could be concidered. only an idea does anyone else agree  :?:
