The Police to play Roxanne at the Grammy's

Postby alex on 05 Feb 2007 03:28

I wasn't going to mention this. But as I've just watched the Superbowl and I am a wee bit intoxicated, the Grammies, and the first public veiwing of The Police since 1984 (R&R hall of fame doesn't count!) just happens to be on my birthday!

So since I'm under the influence, and feel like spreading fake rumours ( the birthday is true, hahaha) You all should thank me. That's right, I'm in touch with the boy's all the time. Sooooo, at Christmas, Stew asked me what I wanted for my birthday. Since the Ferrari was a wee bit over the top, allthough I do thank you for that, I thought it was finally time for a reunion. We called Sting, and I do admit, I had to slap him around a bit. He agreed as soon as I started getting angry by the way.

Anyhoo, I can't seem to keep a thought going. Sorry guys, but I am the resident idiot. I am asking Gio for a favour though. Being as the 11th is my birthday, and the pub that I work at will crank the grammies all night, please delete any and all posts that I registar that evening. Have a great night people.

Do any of the British forum members know if the Grammy's will be on British TV or Sky?

I think that they may actualy play Roxanne but go into "Regatta de Blanc" half way through and come out on "I guess this is our last goodbye" into ad lib of Can't Stand.

That would be cool, Roxanne and Regatta de blanc are about the same tempo..and it would be a good way of getting away from the "roxanno" meanderings

Roxanne Eh?

Well, I thought it would be that or "Don't Stand" whicj has a better intro I think.

The great thing about Roxanne is the middle jam session...it is very good in Roxanne...really reggae, really cool...if they don't do the jam part I will be very upset!!!

Yahooooooooooooooo !!!

Yeah I support the same... uhmmm but...by the way.... Into Stewart's derangements, he mixed "Roxanne" with another one? It works well?

I think it's a lock that they'll play Roxanne.

However, I pray for the following during the telecast:

1 - The person directing the show keeps the cameras on the boys. Lots of times they try to get all creative with crazy angles and audience reaction shots. I could care less about a reaction shot of Christina Aguilera.
2 - In telecasts past, the Granny's have been real big on "onstage collaborations", usually pairing up artist of diverse styles and have them perform. If anyone from The Police's management or close to the band reads these posts, PLEASE DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN. Long time fans of the band DO NOT need to see any other people onstage except Stew, Andy and Sting, (remember the hall of fame awards?). If during the boys' historic performance, Justin Timberloser, Beyonce, Gwen Stefani or any other hack is within 100 feet of the stage with a microphone, TAKE THEM OUT.
3 - Awards shows are all about keeping the action, performers and presenters moving briskly sometimes sacrificing important moments to cut to a commercial or a presenter. Since this is a momentous occasion, fans waiting for this moment would like to savor it. Don't cut away quickly to a commercial or a presenter. Let the boys soak in the adulation they rightly deserve or, heaven forbid, play another tune!

I really wish there were some confirmation Miles was working on this. The man don't put up with no jibberjabber.

Won't we all just die if it *does* turn into some medley with Mariah Carey or some such? I'm not a very traditionally religious person, but it may be time to get out the prayer blanket!!

Mariah? Could you imagine that mess with her 25 octave voice, or whatever it's billed as, taking a vocal dump on a Police classic?

NO!!!!!!!

This is the Grammies, people. It ain't the Independent Music Awards. I think we may need to brace ourselves for some monkey business. Hopefully it won't be *too* intrusive.
