Hmmmm. I just looked, too. Seems like the trouble is for us that the lineup is often so similar to Bonnaroo that I can't justify the hotel/gas costs. But maybe I'll grab something just to have it in case Prince is the headliner :D

Sounds like a blast. Part of me is sorely tempted as it'd be the weekend of my 40th (what a way to party, right?) but I'm sure the family would kill me. Also I've got a huge convention the following weekend in Michigan so two long road trips one after the other would probably kill me no matter what!

Luna,

Is it like Lollapalooza where you can buy a ticket for a day, or buy a pass for the entire time? Man does this sound cool...and what a time for an Oysterhead reunion. Too groovy for words...

Has there been Oysterhead news that I somehow missed??!! I'm comin' up swinging if so...;)

Saw Oysterhead in '06 at Bonnaroo, which is what brought me here. Sometimes other Nutters join Mr. Dive & I at Bonnaroo but I think a mass trip to Gulf Shores would be a blast as well!

Sock, can you beg and plead? Heck, you could even fly Southwest to PCB...

I looked at hotels and also found ridiculous prices. I'm a Hilton girl - long story - so I'd likely grab an outlying Hampton and rent a car...

I can't figure it out until I know Lineup. Sadly, there's some amazing stuff happening soon, and I have limited travel time. for good reasons.

So, if there's a good reason AND nutters, I may be there :)

Nothing but wishful hoping, or so I believe...

Honestly while I would love to try, it would really take Oysterhead or some other STEWART thing given the timing. More because of the convention I have the following weekend - it's my second biggest of the year (MediaWest) and I have to head out Wednesday to begin the road trip. I know I'd be fucked if I spent a long weekend traveling/doing a festival right before it so being a (semi)mature adult has to take precedence.

Unless...!

The website says "single day tickets may not be available." Last year I think it was just weekend passes.

Two members of Oysterhead have already played Hangout. Trey Anastasio played in 2010 and Primus were there last year. It's Stewart's turn!

We were giving this a think last year but went for the Beale St Music Festival instead (which was an awesome trip for just about every other reason than the festival itself, hah). I know that Hangout last year had the same volunteer / work program we did at Bonnaroo and AllGood (work in exchange for tickets) but you kinda have to go with the flow in that gig. Might get good morning shifts, might have to pick up garbage, might get artist check-in, might have to work an overnight shift scanning tickets / bracelets at the gate, etc. And you'll likely be working with kids who have been rolling for days, hah--we had a pretty good time of it, though. I know Hangout has condos near the beach that people group up and rent together, just thought I'd mention it in case there's a nutter party <cheer> NFI what our plans are this summer (besides getting my ms ready for publication) but, I suppose, it's possible <grin>

I just got an email update - Jack White will be one of the headliners. The rest of the lineup will be announced Tuesday Feb 7, and tickets go on sale Friday Feb 10.

Bah. Much as I love him, that one I *really* can't justify, since he lives in Nashville and plays here a lot. It'll be a terrif show, though - guesses are flying who his backing band will be, but if it's just him and Ruby Amanfu (the backup singer on his first single) you're gonna love it.

Bonnaroo list out pretty soon. Dying to compare notes!!

I definitely will be curious to hear about Bonaroo. I'm still pissed off we weren't able to game that contest a year or two back to get me down there (or rather, that someone else gamed the system better than I did! But it was fun trying...remember that, Dive? :D )

Here's the lineup: http://lineup.hangoutmusicfest.com/

The email I got said something about a third headliner TBA.

Dave Matthews Band? Ugh. I'd like to see Jack White, Chris Cornell, Randy Newman, and Mavis Staples. Maybe the Flaming Lips playing Dark Side of the Moon. I don't care at all about any of the other acts. Still undecided on whether it's worth $200. I guess it depends on who this mystery headliner is.

Could they make that font any more difficult to read for the band listing?

*squints, then gives up before I get a headache*

I haven't been able to listen to DMB since I spent a year living next to a business school jerk who listened to. DMB. Non. Stop. Loudly. (And when he was having drunken parties every weekend this would get even louder and go on until about 3 in the morning.) Bad mental associations, right there.
