I would have to say it is most likely a Zildjian cymbal if it was 78-79. It looks way to large to be a splash, due to the relationship of the cymbal to the stand, and the lettering make it appear to be at least a 16" or 18". SC did not possess any Zildjian splash cymbals larger than 10" when I joined. Hope this clarifies!

It's an 18" Zildjian K Crash (he used a 16" on his far right side in this setup, alongside a 20" ride) They're a standard from the early 70's due to the fact there's no logo on the underside or front circumpherance of the cymbals. I believe the Zildian A series from this time had a Zildjian logo on the underside of the cymbal, but not on this range. The only way you could identify that they were the "real deal" so to speak is to look very carefully at the edge of the front face where you'll see a "Avedis Zildjian" etching - I can tell straight off by the underside of the bell that it's a K. What's all this splash baloney about? They only go up to 12" in diameter.
